Scarlet Heart TH?
Why didn’t previous Thai historical dramas face the same controversy, but Scarlet Heart TH does? Because those dramas were based on historical narratives and made deliberate efforts to portray Burmese traditional culture, royal attire, and the monarchy within their historical context.
So, why are Burmese people criticizing Scarlet Heart TH?
1. There are no Burmese characters in the series, nor does it acknowledge that the costumes are inspired by Burmese traditional attire. Instead, the production dismisses it as fiction. But if this is purely a fictional story, why use traditional clothing from Myanmar’s Konbaung era in the first place?
2. The title itself includes “Thailand.” Without people pointing out the cultural origins of these costumes, audiences could easily assume that they are exclusively Thai traditional attire. This is precisely why cultural attribution matters.
3. The oil-lamp dance featured in the trailer is also a serious concern. It is a traditional offering dance of the Rakhine people, an ethnic group in Myanmar, performed to pay homage to the Buddha. Yet the series appears to portray this culturally and religiously significant dance as an entertainment performance for men.
This is not simply about claiming ownership of cultural elements or arguing over which country influenced whom. It is about cultural recognition, historical context, and respect for traditions that carry deep cultural and religious significance.
Calling something “fiction” does not erase the cultural origins of the real traditions used in its production. And drawing inspiration from another culture should never mean disregarding its identity or the meaning behind its traditions.

@Jamwhyloei Did @GMMTV say Scarletheart thailand is a drama about Burmese history. No,they remain silent as Thailand ver. So,we are demanding them to respect our culture.Your understanding skill is a little behind.Did we told anything about Last duel which is history between Myanmar & Thai?
@mickbis@Eileen_tcf So, why not creat own things for fantasy? Why use other country's existing cultures without any respect? You guys protesting @GMMTV by saying fantasy need to learn about respect & ethics.
@retiaa2@haaaro_ But Burmese dress they used are clearly Yadanabon era dress which is later than Lanna (Taungoo era). So representing Lanna region isn't reasonable, they are just using Burmese dress and misleading Myanmar culture as Thai.
And the way you do is not promoting our cultures. We accept Last duel bcs it is about history between Myanmar & Thai. But this case isn't the same. They use Myanmar cultures as they like without proper credit.
Okay.I tell you all clearly. If you think your Thailand is that great , then try to suggest your entainment industry not to try to claim Burmese cultures by using soft power. But, how to do they want to connect with Myanmar cultures so bad.
@mywalkman2014@RRRRRRJ13 I think the blind one is you! I already said they like to claim Burmese cultures by adding some Lanna styles. So, it is okay to copy other cultures by adding some of your things? To explain you to understand,it is like copying another person's assignment by changing some words.
While cultural exchange & artistic blending are appreciated, the timeline & origin of the costumes used differ from both historical attire. How does the production team plan to address these cultural misinterpretations for Intl’ viewers? @Giggoo_#RespectMyanmarCulture
The peacock symbol on the headpiece in Scarlet Heart Thailand is directly copied from Myanmar’s historical coins, banknotes, and symbols, which is clear evidence of our heritage. We have no intention of harming or attacking the actors; our request is strictly for @GMMTV to respect our culture and give proper credit.

Remember Joseon Exorcist?
It was called fantasy but it got canceled after just 2 ep due to backlash over Chinese elements. Fantasy isn’t an excuse to mix other countries cultures however u want
@GMMTV If it’s fantasy be creative with YOUR OWN Thai outfits

Look up the origins of the oil lamp dance carefully. In the era your drama is set in, dancers performed with candles. Do not carelessly appropriate another country's cultural heritage. Show some respect!.

Do you realize your words downgrade the impression for Thai people? What a stupid & rude Thai you are. Doing wrong but in stead of apologizing, assult Myanmar culture & people. Saying not interested, but always using Myanmar cultures without asking.
