@standuquesne Stanley Druckenmiller’s account has been hacked. The same thing happened to me. It’s funny how people don’t see the difference between his usual talks and this one, and actually believe it could be him. Common sense isn’t so common.
There’s this persistent narrative in trading that the smartest guys in the room are inevitably the ones who make the most money.
You constantly hear things like, “How could you ever compete with a firm like XYZ?”
I’ve said this before, but I think that couldn’t be further from the truth.
In my experience, a few attributes consistently separate good traders from everyone else:
1) A relentless desire to progress.
2) An exceptional work ethic.
3) Slightly above-average intelligence.
4) Genuine self-awareness and humility.
5) Unwavering discipline.
6) Mental flexibility and the ability to adapt.
7) Natural gravitation to take risk.
If you genuinely possess these attributes and dedicate yourself to the craft, it becomes very difficult not to develop into a good trader over time. It’s actually quite rare the giga brain that is strictly exceptional raw intelligence ends up lasting long in this game.
I’m not sure how to say this in the nicest way, but if you’re relying on someone on Twitter to reassure you about holding a stock that you’ve invested your own hard-earned money in, it might be a sign to take a step back and reevaluate your investment.
While it’s always helpful to get further explanations or insights from others, remember not to panic or overreact. At the end of the day, your decisions should come from your own understanding and confidence, not from social media validation.
Well friends, I guess this is goodbye. 🙏
If your reading this post that means I gave into the demons that have lived inside my head for far too long. Life has been a real struggle for me since Covid. Long series of failures, chained together; one after another.
Isolation didn't help. Being separated from my soul mate, unable to get back to her; regardless of our past and not being able to be with my daughter... I just couldn't anymore.
Not many options for a 48-year-old white guy these days. Looking back, it was all so avoidable. Little mistakes, turned into larger problems. All completely my fault. I've always tried to be a good person; I've hurt people along the way. I'm sorry if I've hurt you. I ask for forgiveness. I ask for salvation. Not for myself but for the futures of anyone I have hurt.
To Charli, my daughter. I failed you. But I've never stopped loving you or will ever stop loving you. Not sure what happens next, but I will take advantage of any opportunity to touch your life in a positive way.
To Ben, my only friend. I tried every day. Every damn day. I failed and I let you down. You are quite possibly the best human being I have met. You deserve so much better. I did not deserve your friendship.
To Ali, my soul mate. I forgive you. I'm to blame too. Please forgive me. It was all so simple. We as humans over complicate everything. Loving you still every day but knowing being together was impossible; was a terrible prison for me. To the moon and back my love. I will always be with you. Always and forever.
Sometimes eliminating yourself from an equation is the best possible outcome for everyone. In my heart of hearts, I truly believe this.
To everyone else, make the most of this one life you have. It goes by fast. Blink and you will miss it. Confront problems and mistakes immediately. Say you're sorry even when you are not. Love like no one is watching. Ditch the material for the spiritual.
And never grow old with regret.
Love you all.

@scottfelsenthal the thing with trading that is so beautiful is its you against the market. You win its because of you and if you lose its because of you, there is nobody to blame.
