No DMs I won’t respond. Lefty, trusts science. Tax religions. Howard/Costello: most incompetent, government ever & Abbott, Turnbull, Morrison the most corrupt.
The ABC’s independence is now at stake with Segal’s recommendation for a government-appointed censor with coercive take down/penalty powers. This will institutionalise what’s known as the “pre-emptive buckle”. >> ABC Royal Commission Submission https://t.co/BfGV4f1sb6
South Australian Liberal Senator Kerrynne Liddle claimed a death in the state was related to the Telstra outage, and this is now proved to be untrue both by the SA police & Telstra Is this another case of playing politics gone mad ? Is the senator liable in anything in this case?
"Prophet" Donna Rigney claims she opened a portal over the White House & Mar-a-Lago so Trump will now "easily be able to get intel from the Holy Spirit": "God is easily going to be able to give him wisdom for decisions he has to make." Also, a "profile of an angel's face" appeared in the clouds.
Neymar comprou para si um relógio de 1 milhão de dólares. Haaland comprou o livro mais valioso da História norueguesa e doou à biblioteca de sua cidade. Prioridades.
An excellent piece from @latingle on the profound geopolitical shifts unfolding around Trump.
The world isn’t standing still while Washington lurches from crisis to crisis. Europe and NATO are adapting.
Australia needs to pay attention and act.👇🏽 https://t.co/97zkuYCekL
So @Telstra was actually WARNED that this monumental stuff-up could happen. And they did nothing. Truly, it is the most incompetent company in the country. https://t.co/ylEV47ghZL
Jillian Segal says SBS’s code of conduct — which tells staff to separate criticism of Israel from criticism of Jewish ppl — shows that SBS ‘don’t understand’. 🤔
Says she’d “rewrite” it as per the “IHRA definition” which conflates the two issues
This is the quiet part out loud
BREAKING NEWS: Major European nations, plus Canada and Australia, last night chose not to support Cuba’s latest plea for a debate on the US’s decades-long campaign to strangle the island, shocking UN watchers.
But the UK, France and Spain resisted US pressure to do the same.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been working behind the scenes to pressure a change of stance on the regular United Nations vote on Cuba sanctions—and appears to have succeeded.
.
ALARMING CHANGE
While Cuba still won the vote for an additional debate overall, the change in voting patterns alarmed countries worldwide concerned about the humanitarian tragedy that is accelerating on the island, suffering under an illegal US sea blockade on fuel, which has been recently added to decades of economic embargoes.
China has been working overtime to provide “sun farms”—renewable energy sources—and food supplies to alleviate the misery in Cuba.
Ambassador to China Alberto Blanco Silva said earlier this week that China's steadfast support has shown that Cuba "never stood alone".
.
DRAMATIC CHANGE
The voting change at the United Nations last night was stark.
After decades of unwavering support for Cuba, many US allies/ vassals flipped to voting to oppose or abstained from supporting the island nation’s plea for an additional debate on ending the sanctions and embargoes that have caused enormous suffering for the island of 10.9 million people.
Canada and Australia, plus Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and 12 other European countries abstained. This indicates a change, or a split, in EU attitudes towards Cuba, which had been supportive.
.
HISTORICAL SPLIT
For more than 30 years, the world has had a clear divide on this question. On one side stood the conjoined twins, US and Israel. They want to continue Cuba’s pain until the economy collapses or regime change isachieved, so leaders can be replaced with US-allied alternatives.
On the other side has stood the rest of the planet’s nations, wanting an end to the sanctions and embargoes. Just ten years ago in 2016, Cuba’s regular plea received zero opposing or abstention votes, other than the US and Israel.
But US Secretary of State Marco Rubio wants nations to switch to one of the non-support categories for Cuba’s latest request for a debate on the sanctions.
Rubio’s argument, diplomats said, was that Cuba was too friendly with Russia and China.
.
NEIGHBORS UNDER PRESSURE
Countries in the Caribbean region, placed geographically close to Cuba, also came under pressure.
“In recent months, Caribbean nations have revisited their ties with Havana,” said a report in the Miami Herald yesterday. “Under pressure from the U.S., a number of countries have, for example, ended longstanding medical cooperation.”
This is tragic, of course. But in the long term, there’s some hope. China this week said it was co-operating with Cuba on biotechnology, clean energy and agriculture.
China media quoted a traditional saying: "A strong friendship makes a distant place close."

@NuryVittachi Since 1996, Australia has voted at the UN to end US sanctions on Cuba. Now we are just abstaining?!?!
It's good that the UK etc supported Cuba, but Australia is going the wrong way entirely with #AUKUS.
Rather than report on a genocide, medicide, or apartheid, Antisemitism Envoy Jillian Segal would like journalists to do PR for Israel with stories about ‘start up Nations - I guess that’s so long as we don’t stray into links with defence industry
So it seems the right wing of politics are completely against giving First Nations people a voice to parliament, but go to extreme lengths to ensure the Israeli government gets a voice in almost everything in Australia.
