Thanks to @MorePerfectUS for focusing on the stories of our District 1 residents, port workers and small businesses. We cannot lose focus of the impact the #keybridge tragedy has had on thousands of working class families in our district. We need to pass emergency assistance ASAP
NEW: Thousands of workers are still out of work weeks after the Baltimore bridge collapsed.
Mainstream news is focusing on how the tragedy will affect the supply chain and the stock market.
We went to Baltimore to see how it’s affecting port workers and their families.
Thank you @reginatboyce and @AntonioHayes40 for your leadership! Today HB2 was signed by @iamwesmoore! Now we can finally institute the vacant property tax! I look forward to working with @CouncilmanETC and my colleagues to get this done here in Baltimore! @CDNMaryland
This is MASSIVE news!!! Our @portofbalt looks to be on the way back to restoring normal operations soon🤞🤞
Thanks to everyone involved in this incredible operation.
1ST COMMERCIAL SHIP PASSES THROUGH NEW CHANNEL 🚨⬇️
This 349-foot ship is the first to pass through the newly-opened limited access channel. Compared to the other 3 alternate channels, this one is deep enough to allow for much larger ships.
Later today a 789-foot ship carrying cars and heavy equipment will pass through. They let the smaller one go first as a test - to see how the wake impacts the Dali and the wreckage.
These ships have been stuck in the harbor since the collapse. No ships coming into the port today - they didn't have enough notice to re-route here.
