I took some time to review the White Paper published by the TVK Govt on the state of Tamil Nadu's finances.

No surprises, as most of it was already known. In many ways, it serves as a post-mortem of the State’s fiscal mismanagement over the past five years, laying bare the extent of the deterioration and benchmarking Tamil Nadu’s key financial indicators against those of other similarly industrialised states.

-₹10 Lakh crore outstanding debt & per capita outstanding debt at ₹1,28,934
-Interest payments at 22.8% of total revenue receipts.
-State’s own tax revenue (SoTR) to GSDP ratio fell from 5.93% in 2021-22 to 5.45% in 2025-26.
-Major State PSUs in power, transport, and civil supplies hold a combined debt of ₹3.18 lakh crore.
-Revenue loss due to systemic corruption, suppressing registration revenues by undervaluing real estate prices and many more.

The shrinking working-age population in TN by 2031 leaves the state with very little time to recover and strengthen its revenue base. This is a serious issue!

The TVK Govt, therefore, has very little time at its disposal and must not treat this White Paper as an excuse for non-performance; instead, it should explore ways to repair the damage done. I propose that the government form a “functional” consultation group that includes not only academicians and economists but also experts from all fronts to find constructive ways to mitigate the crisis at hand.

🇮🇳 India's External Affairs Minister gave Europe a reality check today.

At the Kultaranta Talks in Finland, a journalist accused India of being too close to Russia and too dependent on Russian oil.

His response was direct.

• Europe sells weapons that have been used to attack India for many years
• India has never done anything to endanger Europe
• India buys oil based on cost and availability, nothing more
• In 2022 the US itself asked India to buy Russian oil to stabilise global markets

Before lecturing India on its choices, Europe should look at its own.

This is not anger. This is India simply stating the record straight.

The reference அடியளந்தான் is the Vamana avatar of Mahavishnu.

It is a wilful negation of the very text to claim that Kural has nothing to do with Hinduism.

When Udayanidhi Stalin repeatedly attacks "sanathanam" in Tamil, why is there not more outrage among the highly religious Tamil Hindu population?

I believe it comes down to language.

In Tamil language, the word "sanathanam" (eternal in English) is not in regular use. Most Tamil people do not know this word and I did not know it myself as a child.

On the other hand the word "dharma" (spelled as "dharmam" or "dharumam") is common in Tamil and there is a district named Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu. There is also the word "aram" used in Tamil with the same meaning as dharma.

Interestingly, in Hindi, the word "dharam" means "religion" in general and Hinduism is "hindu dharm" or "sanatan dharam" and Christianity is "isai dharam" in Hindi.

But in Tamil usage, the word "dharmam" would effectively mean "Hindu dharam" in Hindi.

Now if Udayanidhi had attacked "dharmam" in Tamil (which effectively means Hinduism) he would be widely criticised for proclaiming adharmam.

That is why he is picking the word "sanathanam" to attack because that word is not widely known in Tamil.

With all his "sincere" effort, he is making the word known in Tamil too and he has made the already huge anti DMK vote in Tamil Nadu even bigger. The DMK has never won a majority on its own ever, because of that huge strong anti-DMK current. They established that current with their constant attacks on Hindu deities. The AIADMK never did that and they harvested the anti-DMK current well.

Now, in spite of the TVK being the new anti-DMK party and in spite of the AIADMK splitting the anti-DMK vote (see how I worked it!) and in spite of the DMK spending extraordinary amounts of cash, in spite of the DMK having a strong alliance and the TVK having no alliance, the DMK lost the election.

Udayanidhi wants to ensure the DMK would never come back. May the eternal sanatana dharma grant his wish 🙏😉

Raju Narayana Swamy was my classmate in IIT Madras. He also had a very high rank in IIT JEE 1985, my recollection was AIR 10 and he came from small town Kerala and most top rankers were from the big cities so he stood out.

Most of our classmates - including me - went abroad. He chose to stay in India.
