Manipur : Today, Thousands of protesters from the Kuki Community in Kangpokpi rallied to the streets condemning the abduction of 14 Kuki civilians after their removal from police custody by SDSA and NSCN-IM.

Protesters demanded the immediate,unconditional release of all hostages, including 3 students.

The illegal detention since 13 May 2026 are grave human rights violations, exposing complete lawlessness.
Authorities must intervene decisively, compel the hostages' release & ensure swift prosecution now.

Strong condemnation is hereby expressed over the heinous ambush and brutal killing of innocent TBA Church leaders on the morning of 13.05.2026 between Kotjim and Veitum/L. Jangnomphai. Such inhuman acts against innocent civilians and religious leaders are utterly condemnable and unacceptable.

In honour of the departed souls and as a mark of protest against the continued failure of the State law enforcement agencies in curbing the activities of terrorist groups such as ZUF-Kamson (NSCN IM's Proxy) and Arambai Tenggol, an emergency indefinite shutdown is hereby called with effect from 12:30 Noon of 13.05.2026 in Churachandpur District.

All sister organisations and all concerned are requested to extend cooperation and maintain peace during the shutdown period.

Medical Emergencies, Press and Media, Electricity and religious ceremonies shall be exempted from the purview of the shutdown.

Any organisation unwilling to co-operate will be seen as disrespecting the innocent departed souls.

A candlelight vigil was organised by the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) on 17 January 2026 at the Wall of Remembrance to honour and remember Nengtinlhing Hsokip, a 20-year-old young woman whose life was tragically cut short following a brutal assault.

Nengtinlhing reportedly endured grave violence after being handed over at an ATM booth in New Checkon, taken to Langol, and later abandoned in Bishnupur. Though she survived the initial assault, she suffered severe physical and psychological trauma, including critical uterine complications. She was shifted to Guwahati for advanced treatment, where she fought for her life before succumbing to her injuries on 10 January 2026.

Community leaders, women’s groups, civil society members, and concerned citizens gathered in silence and solidarity, lighting candles to mourn the life lost and to honour her memory. Speakers expressed deep anguish and strongly condemned the violence inflicted upon her.

The vigil also strongly condemned the continued failure of the BJP-led governments at both the Centre and the State, whose silence, inaction, and lack of accountability have allowed violence against women particularly from Indigenous and marginalised communities to persist with impunity. Participants asserted that justice delayed and denied reflects a deeper collapse of governance, law enforcement, and political will.

The programme served as a resolute call for justice, accountability, and systemic reform. Participants demanded a thorough, impartial investigation and urged authorities to ensure that all those responsible directly or indirectly are held accountable under the law, without political protection.

The vigil concluded with prayers and a collective resolve to continue raising voices against violence and injustice so that Nengtinlhing Hsokip’s life, dignity, and suffering are never forgotten, and no other woman is abandoned by the system again.

Since May 3, 2023, the apathy and negligence towards the people of Tengnoupal District have worsened. The successive Deputy Commissioners of the District have abandoned the District HQ. There is no District Hospital available, and the Primary Health Center at the Tengnoupal District HQ lacks adequate infrastructure and manpower to handle the increasing number of patients. There are no local civil or police officers posted in the District, which has further added to the woes of the people. This negligence on the part of the Government amounts to a gross violation of Human Rights. I urge the Hon'ble Governor of Manipur to look into this matter seriously.

𝐍𝐄𝐇𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐏𝐀𝐎 𝐊𝐈𝐏𝐆𝐄𝐍, a distinguished #Kuki Academician. #Biren's claim that (𝐋) 𝐃𝐫. 𝐊𝐈𝐏𝐆𝐄𝐍 was an Indian Citizen who allegedly used"𝐅𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬" to reside in #Manipur is a blatant fabrication. In reality, (𝐋) 𝐃𝐫. 𝐊𝐈𝐏𝐆𝐄𝐍 was a #Burmese National who never held Indian Citizenship and had legally resettled in the #UnitedStates through the #UNHCR, leveraging an opportunity reserved for non-Indians facing persecution. His subsequent acquisition of U.S. Citizenship was a reflection of his qualifications and status, earned through legitimate means, and not a product of deception as notorious #Biren implied.

This deliberate misrepresentation is not an isolated incident but rather a calculated attempt to reinforce a State-sponsored narrative that seeks to delegitimize the entire #Kuki Community by portraying them as '𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐠 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬.' By dragging(𝐋) 𝐃𝐫. 𝐊𝐈𝐏𝐆𝐄𝐍'𝐬 name into this campaign, #NBirenSingh exposes the depths of his desperate Government's desperation, marked by intellectual and moral bankruptcy, corruption, deceit, and autocratic tendencies, as it seeks to justify its ethnonationalist agenda through any means necessary. This targeted delegitimization is a calculated attempt to criminalize an entire Community by distorting facts and rewriting personal histories. Even in death, the #Kukis are not spared from the State's relentless Campaign to erase their legitimacy.

(𝐋) 𝐃𝐫. 𝐊𝐈𝐏𝐆𝐄𝐍'𝐬 legacy stands as a validation to his Academic rigor and merit, untainted by Political favoritism. The fact that the #Manipur Government feels compelled to fabricate lies against a Man who had no stake in their system underscores the intellectual and moral bankruptcy of those in power. #NBirenSingh's actions demonstrate a callous disregard for truth, a lack of respect for the deceased, and a blatant attempt to manipulate public opinion for Political gain. His inept Government's willingness to stoop to such depths is a stark reminder of the depths of their desperation and the bankruptcy of their ideology.

Furthermore, #NBirenSingh's actions are a gross betrayal of the trust placed in him as a Public Servant. His reckless and baseless accusations against (𝐋) 𝐃𝐫. 𝐊𝐈𝐏𝐆𝐄𝐍 are a slap in the face to the entire #Kuki Community, and a stark reminder of the divisive politics that his bankrupt Government has consistently pursued. The people of #Manipur deserve better than a Government that resorts to such underhanded tactics to further its own agenda.

The attempt to tarnish (𝐋) 𝐃𝐫. 𝐊𝐈𝐏𝐆𝐄𝐍'𝐬 name will ultimately fail, as the facts remain, and so does the legacy of a Man who championed dialogue, peace, and justice, principles that the #BirenSingh Government continues to undermine at every turn. #NBirenSingh's desperation to cling to power has consistently led him to sacrifice truth, dignity, and decency. His communal Government's actions will only serve to further alienate the #Kuki Community and exacerbate the very tensions they claim to be addressing...!!!🆘
