this is actually insane
> be tech guy in australia
> adopt cancer riddled rescue dog, months to live
> not_going_to_give_you_up.mp4
> pay $3,000 to sequence her tumor DNA
> feed it to ChatGPT and AlphaFold
> zero background in biology
> identify mutated proteins, match them to drug targets
> design a custom mRNA cancer vaccine from scratch
> genomics professor is “gobsmacked” that some puppy lover did this on his own
> need ethics approval to administer it
> red tape takes longer than designing the vaccine
> 3 months, finally approved
> drive 10 hours to get rosie her first injection
> tumor halves
> coat gets glossy again
> dog is alive and happy
> professor: “if we can do this for a dog, why aren’t we rolling this out to humans?”
one man with a chatbot, and $3,000 just outperformed the entire pharmaceutical discovery pipeline.
we are going to cure so many diseases.
I dont think people realize how good things are going to get
Alberta is heartbroken at the loss of three young hockey players, JJ Wright, Cameron Casorso and Caden Fine, who tragically lost their lives while travelling to practice with the Southern Alberta Mustangs junior hockey club.
My deepest condolences are with their families, teammates, coaches, billet families and the entire community of Stavely and surrounding area as they grieve this unimaginable loss. The whole Alberta hockey family is standing with you in sorrow and in prayer.
Thank you as well to the first responders and medical teams who rushed to help. In the days ahead, I know Albertans will wrap these families and this team in love and support as they navigate a pain no one should ever have to bear.
Celebrities talked nonstop about Gaza for months. Tonight at the Grammys, not a single one spoke up for the Iranian people—after the Islamic Republic massacred over 36,000 in less than 48 hours.
Weird.
Creativity in marketing has been in a bad place for a while but @Wealthsimple’s current campaign is so thoroughly illegible it makes me want to close my account.
Remember this the next time people gaslight you with anti data center crap. Speaking of gaslighting: Canada flares off 7 GW of natural gas as a waste product of mining each year- more power than all the LLM training clusters use combined. Let’s build data centers in Alberta.
Horrific whatever the number is. Another number: Zero emergency meetings or special sessions of the United Nations Security Council or General Assembly about what's happening in Iran.
I’m running to be the next Premier of British Columbia because our province deserves real leadership and a chance to be the envy of Canada once again.
David Eby and the NDP cannot be allowed to continue to mismanage the economy with a spiralling deficit while the cost of living skyrockets, criminals go unpunished, the healthcare system crumbles, and tens of thousands of people flee the province.
The Conservative Party of BC needs a leader who is not just effective in opposition, but who can also tackle the big issues and get our province back on track as the next Premier of B.C.
If you believe our province can once again be a place where people thrive, communities feel safe, and hard work leads to opportunity, then join our growing movement to build the strongest possible @Conservative_BC to restore hope, create opportunity, and ensure everyone can dream and succeed right here in B.C.
@BrianDijkema I remember when they started building these and was HIGHLY skeptical they’d work. The fencing is a critical piece to funnel animals to the bridge but I’m glad to have been wrong.
Sentence is reduced in part so he can stay in his home territory, where the victim he nearly killed also lives. Zero respect for her, zero regard for community safety.
This bodes ill. Readers used to outnumber non-readers 2 to 1. Now non-readers outnumber readers 3 to 1.
It's hard to imagine a change of that magnitude not having significant effects.
Say their names.
These are the Canadians killed on October 7 by Hamas.

Here's why AI data centers are coming to #NatGas supply like Penn, TX, Alberta, etc - there are expandable #NatGas power generation plants and ability to site new #NatGas power plants.
@GuyJohnsonTV asks how big a problem is electricity re data center buildout.
@Brookfield CFO "That is really what is the bottleneck when you think about it ...electricity is going to be the key focus. Some of the places we are really focused on. One is behind the meter. And then also bringing data centers to where there is electricity".
See my 👇06/29 thread. Also reminder that more behind the meter means less 24/7 power that could go on the grid and math means regular grid customers will have increasing relative exposure to intermittent solar and wind.

This continues to be stupid trolling bad faith nonsense, and it’s an outrage that Elections Canada continues to put up with it. It’s not a “protest” it’s not “activism,” it’s just dumb people trying to do what they can to sabotage a politician they don’t like.
Alberta is an AI powerhouse! Thrilled to see the University of Alberta recognized as #1 in Canada's for AI and 53rd worldwide. From healthcare to climate change, U of A's cutting-edge AI research proves technology is the future of EVERY sector.

I’m reminded of the 50 Canadians killed when Iran shot down civilian airliner PS752 in 2020, including an innocent family from my neighborhood in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In some small way, justice has been served.
Trump made clear this was not only about the nuclear ambitions of Iran, but also about Iran's behavior over four decades--sponsoring terror, killing Americans on the battlefield in Iraq, with roadside bombs, and sowing discord and violence. And directly linked America to Israel.
