Please join us next month September 5th at 11am to #MarchForTransEquality and world-leading reforms to gender recognition laws and trans healthcare. We'll be setting aside our party colours to join @OutForIndy & @rainbowgreens
Scottish Labour devolved policy on GRA reform hasn’t been ‘overruled’. Today social justice spokesperson Paul O’Kane reiterated our policy in favour of self-id, which is consistent with how we voted last year. Due to UK gov blocking the Bill, it’ll be settled in court.
#Pride🌈 is about affirmation and joy, but it is also a protest.
We must resist the Tories' attempt to block us from extending trans rights.
Solidarity for #PrideMonth and always 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
The hard-won rights of LGBTQ people can never be taken for granted.
This is not a retrospective issue. We still have more to do to make Scotland fairer, safer and more equal, including ending conversion therapy. I hope all candidates are committed to robust legislation.
I sit across from Kate Forbes every week.
My marriage isn’t up for debate.
These rights were hard fought for and hard won for me and hundreds of others across Scotland.
They are celebrated by our allies, families and friends.
Our First Minister must stand up for them.
As a gay married woman, it matters to me whether my First Minister believes that my marriage is valid.
It tells me whether they believe in my equality and dignity as a citizen.
Any First Minister should be able to answer that question: clearly, directly, and positively.
Candidate views on abortion and same sex marriage are absolutely fair game for scrutiny in a leadership contest.
If you are a progressive, these are fundamental, red line issues.
Central to the disagreement between Holyrood and the UK Government on Gender Recognition is the extent to which self identification as the basis of a Gender Recognition Certificate puts women and girls at risk from predators.
Whether the s35 Order is justified depends on reasons advanced by HMG for saying GRR has adverse effect on UK equality law. For the reasons I have tweeted those reasons do not begin to justify its use. It’s a nuclear weapon used in a minor skirmish.
We've said it before many times, but it's important to keep saying it - personal abuse and threats of violence are not acceptable in Scottish politics, on any side of any debate.
150 amendments, years of discussion and debate, an overwhelming cross party majority (86 votes for and 39 against) for the act and passed in despite of numerous blocking tactics – GRA can now be viewed as the ‘considered view of the Scottish Parliament’

I was proud to speak outside the UK Government HQ alongside @LGBTLabScot members in solidarity with the trans community.
It is outrageous that trans people are targets in a Tory culture war. The majority of Scottish Parliamentarians stand with them.🏳️⚧️

Solidarity with everyone rallying in Edinburgh today for trans rights.
The GRR should be implemented as is.
S35 is the wrong approach.
Trans rights are human rights✊.
Proud to speak outside Downing Street alongside @LGBTLabour MPs in solidarity with our trans siblings.
The trans community is not collateral damage. Trans rights are not a side issue. And trans people deserve a government that stands with them. 🏳️⚧️
1. The Statement of reasons is nonsense.
It makes clear what we knew anyway, that the Tories have used trans people as a political football and stoked a toxic culture war to distract from their utter incompetence.
Trans people will be looking on in distress…
