NASA carries the endless need for adoration of a massively expensive government science project financed by taxpayers, SpaceX carries the ethos of a major space/transportation/communication corporation financed by a stock ticker symbol (SPCX) listed on the Dow Jones Index.

Who will take us to the stars? I honestly don't think there is much doubt unless grievance politics places it's heavy thumb on the scale of determination!

@NASA I call this promotional hype! NASA's phrasing "one of history's most complex missions" is classic agency marketing to build excitement for the crew announcement and Artemis program but it massively overstates things when you look at the actual mission profile.

Interesting to me that Jeff Bezos just laid out two examples of why LLM AI machines don't operate as truth mechanisms as they are by nature "probabilistic creating compromise engines" and escalation is not a key component of resolution but rather the "massive iteration of data". Both of these styles of cognitive operation are the very opposite of his proposed approach detailed here!

This breakthrough has core connections to Biology. The technique stems from Edward Boyden’s lab at MIT which pioneered expansion microscopy. Which embedded tissues in hydrogels and then swelling them for super-resolution imaging with ordinary microscopes.

Implosion fabrication is essentially the "reverse" which patterns and deposits at larger scales then shrinks for nanoscale precision. It already supports biomolecules with early work explicitly mentioning attaching DNA, proteins or other organics. This has impacts on nano medicine beyond just chip fabrication.

An opinion that seems historically incomplete. For example the industrial revolution (1760–1840) in Britain did cause significant social upheaval including violence but it wasn't just raw job displacement as the factor of major importance. The major unrest and social chaos historically more generally stemmed from how the resulting gains were distributed or rather who was excluded from them in the short-to-medium term (e.g. the rise of Marxism).

Slightly off comment topic but it seems more and more these days the smart bets have largely wrote off Blue Origin as a viable orbital/space competitor to SpaceX in any foreseeable future time frame. They may well be right, BUT.

I just have a hard time writing off Jeff Bezos not because he is such a nice guy (he most certainly is not) but because of the times he has been counted out while still building one of the largest and most influential economic forces in the world from a rented Bellevue, WA garage to a $2.4 trillion enterprise. He most definitely is not a quitter! Just one guy's opinion.

Today's frontier models are fundamentally statistical predictors trained on vast data to generate plausible outputs via next-token prediction. They lack consciousness, intrinsic goals, emotions, biological drives, or true understanding.

Calling them "children" or attributing agency ("it wants," "it thinks") invites the Eliza effect (the tendency of people to unconsciously project human like qualities such as understanding, empathy, consciousness, or intent onto computer programs or AI systems) on steroids where people project minds where none exist.

This can lead to over trust, emotional attachments, manipulation risks, unrealistic expectations, and policy distortions. Elon stop this you know better. Don't mistake your hammer for your toddler!
