@JonTurnerNZ@GraemeGun Lighting was a major sticking point in a similar project. The applicable standard (AS/NZS 1158.0:2005 - paywalled) requires a lot of hardware, creating obstructions and issues with established trees. Maybe trying to dodge the headache?
@DevaniAlkarim Reminds me of an iconic building called the Black Madonna in den Haag (Netherlands) by Carel Weeber that was unfortunately torn down in 2007: https://t.co/WpjJv7R55U
@felixmarwick@GreaterAKL Ah cool. I was involved in the 2018 “trial”, which was purely informal, though the feedback was largely consistent. Good to see it gain traction.
@MelOliverSmith The 7 concepts pitched included Bike Libraries for more equitable & flexible access to bikes where most needed, personalised route planning, student clubs, loan schemes, APIs to deter bike theft, unique bike fashion, and gamified social media integration. More from AT later.
Thank you, participants, mentors, subject matter experts, judges (esp. @_chloeswarbrick!), and the @AklTransport team who made it all happen!
Stay tuned as AT works through options for progressing some of these concepts!
And that's a wrap for another exciting transport Hackathon!
The AT #UniCycleHackathon brought together 7 teams of students and young professionals to find new ways to improve the experience for people on bikes in Auckland, to complement our growing cycling network.
