My heart goes out to everyone evacuating Northwest Ontario due to the wildfires. We need a preparedness plan that funds and supports wildland firefighters before there's an emergency, not after the fire's already putting lives at risk.

I talked with Chief Gord of the Carling Fire Department about why wildland fire prep can't wait until fire season starts. We need to get to fires while they're small, invest early, equip our firefighters properly.

The Ontario Greens are ready to work across party lines as we call on the Ford government to fund a real wildland firefighting preparedness plan.
