🔬 @LabMoehle studies the circuitry and behaviors behind symptoms of movement disorders like Parkinson’s and dystonia at @UF. With @NIH support, translating #UFMedResearch into novel therapies advances treatment for these diseases and drives discovery worldwide.
New @LabMoehle preprint from rockstar grad student (and looking for a job) Michael Millett! Synuclein in the nucleus has remained controversial for multiple reasons. Here we use super resolution and expansion microscopy to help answer this controversy
https://t.co/nE3TsYBrKn
Taken together, this work shows that aggregation of synuclein causes physical damage to the nuclear membrane, which results in nuclear dysfunction, and that this is a toxic gain of function of pathological synuclein.
