Conformational Remodeling Underlies Activity Loss in Disease-Linked Asparagine Synthetase Variant https://t.co/H3fRzhBB7m Delighted to share this collaborative work led by Dr. Wen Zhu’s lab, revealing the mechanistic basis of an ASNS disease-associated mutation.
I am excited to share our latest work, now available on bioRxiv: https://t.co/FPvptNWTwF
This achievement was made possible through great collaboration with the Staschke (IUSM) and Zhu (FSU) labs.
My cat passed away yesterday at nearly 18 years old. Many of you knew her as the lab’s quiet mascot—her photo appears on our X account and elsewhere. She had been with me through most of my time at IU, offering steady companionship. She will be greatly missed.
1/2: Publication Announcement! In a new manuscript published in Nature Communications, Dr. Yuichiro Takagi @LabTakagi and collaborators used Cryo-EM to reveal the catalytic mechanism of Human Asparagine Synthetase (ASNS): https://t.co/yzNS9DhVWr
Working on ASNS, authors from @LabTakagi@WenZhu_Lab and colaborators combine cryo-EM 3D variability analysis with MD simulations to study conformation of amino acid side chains.

Thrilled to share that our paper has finally been published after navigating feedback from six reviewers over the past year and a half. Huge thanks to the incredible collaboration with the teams of Richards, Zhu, Vos, and Chaptal. https://t.co/V653UoxKpq
Looking for a postdoc to work on small molecule degraders of oncoproteins (Bellail et al. Science Translational Medicine 2021, 13:e12947, DOI:10.1126/scitranslmed.abh1486), and aging related proteins utilizing cryo-EM If interested, please contact me at [email protected]

I am delighted that my lab was able to contribute to a large kinase substrate study with other excellent groups just published in nature 😊: https://t.co/EdSfoc5xEr
🔥hot off the press from the @kellogg_liz lab 🔥
We report the first cryo-EM structure of a CAST catalytic component, commonly called the transposase. In the V-K CAST system this component is named TnsB, published this week in PNAS! (1/9)
