People are upset about the World Cup because instead of bringing the world together it’s another reminder of how unjust the world is.

It’s not a conspiracy. A Somali referee was denied entry to the U.S., that’s a fact. The U.S. tried to swap Iran for Italy, and then mistreated the team, that’s a fact. The U.S. president made a call to reverse a red card for an American player, that’s a fact…

From discrimination and over-priced tickets, to commercial breaks and VAR issues, many people who have watched and enjoyed the World Cup since childhood are more than disappointed. The whole tournament was tainted from the beginning, starting with a fake peace prize to gratify the host country.

There is no conclusive proof. But the circumstantial evidence that there is pro-Argentina bias in FIFA affecting the World Cup:

1) In the group stage opener against Algeria, Messi caught Aïssa Mandi with a studs-up challenge on the Achilles and escaped any card. FIFA later admitted the VAR officials got it wrong and sanctioned them.

2) The inconsistency became undeniable when the United States' Folarin Balogun was sent off in the Round of 32 for a near-identical foot-on-ankle challenge on Bosnia's Tarik Muharemović. Pundits directly compared the red card to Messi's uncarded foul on Mandi.

3) In the 2026 Round of 32 against Cape Verde, referee Drew Fischer did not enforce the tournament's new rule requiring an injured player to remain off the pitch after treatment. He waited for Argentina's Nicolás Tagliafico to return before allowing a Cape Verde corner. Several uncalled fouls in that game also went Argentina's way.

4) Today against Egypt, with Egypt leading 1-0, Mostafa Ziko finished off a long breakaway to make it 2-0. VAR sent Letexier to the monitor and the goal was disallowed for a Marwan Attia shirt-pull on Lisandro Martínez that occurred roughly 20 seconds earlier and nearly the full length of the pitch from goal.

5) Neutral officiating experts, not just Egyptian fans, called the decision wrong. Former FIFA referee Mark Clattenburg said he did not believe it was a foul and did not believe VAR should have intervened at all, adding that the call was inconsistent with the physical contact referees had allowed all tournament.

6) The winning sequence produced a second grievance. In the buildup to Enzo Fernández's stoppage-time winner, Egypt appealed for a penalty on a Salah challenge and for an Alexis Mac Allister shirt-pull, and VAR checked neither. Hassan cited the unreviewed Mac Allister pull directly in his post-match remarks.

7) The 2026 grievances land on top of a 2022 record In Qatar, Argentina were awarded five penalties, the most ever by a team in a single World Cup edition, with Messi taking all five. That same tournament, Messi handled the ball against the Netherlands in the quarterfinal and escaped a yellow card.

8) FIFA has appointed an all-Argentine crew, led by Facundo Tello, for Thursday's France–Morocco quarterfinal, the tournament's first all-same-country panel.

9) Comments attributed to Infantino after an Argentina match were widely discussed as suggesting bias toward Argentina before he later clarified them, and a deep Messi run drives far more global viewership and revenue than one without him. This establishes incentive.

FIFA cannot be trusted. Egypt was robbed. Argentina are coasting to another title under FIFA protection.

When Ghana gained independence in 1957, Israel was one of the first countries to set up an embassy in Accra.

Israel’s ambassador Ehud Avriel became a close confidant of Kwame Nkrumah, and within a year, Israel had fulfilled almost every item on Nkrumah’s development wish list.

The Zionists financed water infrastructure, construction, a shipping company, military training, pilot schools, even helped with setting up Ghana’s famous National Symphony Orchestra.

Israel further extended Ghana a $20 million loan and signed a trade agreement. Ghana was basically used as a showcase of Israeli development for the rest of the continent.

Obviously, Israel wasn’t doing this out of generosity. After being shut out of the 1955 Bandung Conference, where Asian and African nations formally supported Palestinian rights, Israel desperately needed Africans to block Arab influence at the UN. Ghana was the entry point to that strategy.

At the same time, using its strong diplomatic foothold in Ghana, Israel aggressively courted Patrice Lumumba and his party, the Mouvement National Congolais, before the Congo gained independence from Belgium. Israel presented itself as a small, fellow socialist-leaning nation that could offer invaluable technical and developmental assistance without the historical baggage of European colonial powers.

Lumumba, committed to a policy of “positive neutralism”, refusing to align blindly with the West or the Soviet Union, welcomed the prospect of diverse international partnerships.

So, when the Democratic Republic of the Congo became independent in June 1960, Israel immediately established an embassy in Léopoldville, appointing Nkrumah’s close friend Avriel as ambassador.

When the “Congo Crisis” erupted almost immediately after independence, Lumumba’s government faced Western-backed secession of the mineral-rich Katanga province and Israel attempted to remain supportive of Lumumba’s central government by publicly refusing to recognise the breakaway state.

However, the Congo-Israel relationship deteriorated rapidly as Lumumba grew frustrated with Western nations and the United Nations for failing to help him suppress the Katanga secession. In desperation, Lumumba turned to the Soviet Union for assistance.

As a result, Israel aligned itself with the pro-Western factions in the Congo, while Lumumba forged a close alliance with Egypt, Israel’s primary regional adversary at the time. Lumumba was assassinated shortly thereafter.

Similarly, Nkrumah’s pan-African vision eventually pulled him away from Israel. By 1961, he was aligning with Egypt’s Gamal Abdel Nasser who was a fierce enemy of Israel, and led the movement that declared Israel “an instrument of imperialism and neocolonialism”.
Within five years, Nkrumah was deposed in a military coup d’état.

The key takeaway here is that international friendships are always strategy. Whether it’s Taiwan in Eswatini or Israel in Rwanda today, you should always follow the money and the geopolitics.

In the remote corners of South Carolina, where poverty and lack of access to healthcare made illness almost a death sentence, one woman illuminated the lives of thousands with her dedication and knowledge. Her name was Maude Callen ( pictured holding her hand over the elderly woman), but to those who knew her, she will always be remembered as the "Angel of the Twilight."

Born in Florida in 1898, Callen faced adversity from a young age. Orphaned along with her 12 sisters, she found not only a home but also a calling with her uncle, one of the first Black doctors in the country. From him, she learned medical techniques that she later perfected at Florida A&M University and Georgia Infirmary in Savannah.

In the early 1920s, she moved to Pineville as a medical missionary, becoming the primary healthcare provider in an isolated community with no access to hospitals. Her home was not just a refuge but a community clinic, where she treated wounds, illnesses, and, most importantly, brought hope. She also traveled a 400-square-mile region, navigating difficult roads to visit those who needed her most.

Callen's impact went beyond that of a nurse; she was a doctor, dietitian, psychologist, support system, and friend.

It is estimated that she assisted in the birth of between 600 and 800 babies throughout her career, ensuring that each new life had a dignified start. She also passed on her knowledge to other women, training future midwives and ensuring that her legacy would live on. In 1989, the Medical University of South Carolina awarded her an honorary degree, and a scholarship was established in her name at the nursing school, ensuring that new generations of professionals would follow her example. Maude Callen devoted her life to healing both bodies and souls, leaving an indelible mark on the history of medicine and humanitarian service.
