🇧🇷 Obrigada, @IASLC! Excited to travel to São Paulo for #LALCA Nov 12-14 and share perspectives on incorporating ADCs and bispecific antibodies into lung cancer management.

Looking forward to connecting with colleagues across Latin America! 🇧🇷 #LungCancer
Lung cancer screening can detect cancer before symptoms appear, yet many eligible Americans aren't getting screened.
Following Pope Leo’s lung cancer diagnosis, Sylvester’s Dr. Coral Olazagasti (@COlazagasti) spoke with @PreventionMag about barriers to screening, the importance of early detection and why individual risk factors matter. https://t.co/rtxPQUnPLe
As a Catholic and thoracic oncologist, I’m delighted by the encouraging news about @Pontifex’s recovery and surgical results ! 🙏 His doctors report no need for additional treatment based on pathology and molecular testing—a wonderful outcome of early stage lung cancer 🫁 and prayers answered.
Equally remarkable: final results in just 8 days after surgery, while many patients wait weeks for molecular testing in the advanced setting. This is a reminder that timely results and biomarker testing matter! 💜
Pope Leo XIV’s doctors have confirmed that the tumor removed on October 13 was a lung adenocarcinoma and that the disease was localized.
Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora said on Wednesday evening that a subsequent oncological assessment has confirmed that “no further treatment is necessary.”
Check out my latest article: The Other Decoupling
In 2009, “decoupling” meant hoping Asia could grow despite an American downturn. Today, it means deliberately weakening US–China connections.
Returning to Singapore in 2026, I reread a letter I wrote during the financial crisis—and saw what years of investment in healthcare had built.
“The Other Decoupling” reflects on a lesson for families and countries alike: protection against uncertainty has to be built before it is needed.

I see @dan_morgen@HemOncMiami fellow in this picture. I know Dr Edith Mitchell @eaonc would have loved to meet him and all these talented trainees- her legacy of creating opportunity and supporting a diverse physician scientist workforce lives on! #Representationmatters
🫁🧬 Sincere thanks to @eaonc for inviting me back as a former Edith Peterson Mitchell Award recipient to share our ongoing research at @SylvesterCancer.
My talk focused on two important aspects of lung cancer research:
🌍 Understanding the evolving epidemiology and global burden of lung cancer risk factors.
🧬 Exploring how genomic alterations and the tumor immune landscape differ across age groups.
Grateful for the opportunity to share our work and connect with fellow investigators! @GlopesMd@Latinamd@dan_morgen@HemOncMiami@DesaiP_Oncdoc@BenBleibergMD
How do you balance toxicity risks with the potential for improved outcomes?
Watch as experts @Latinamd, Matthew Gumbleton, MD, PhD, of @huntsmancancer, and Siddhartha Devarakonda, MD, of @ProvSwedish, discuss the conversations they have with patients when weighing treatment-related adverse effects against survival benefits in EGFR-mutated NSCLC.

We reported a 42.9% five-year relative survival rate for malignant brain and nervous system cancers, compared with 32.9% nationally, for cases diagnosed from 2016–2022. The figures are not risk-adjusted.

As @RajaFlores points out, oncology has a language problem, including how to define "early stage". https://t.co/eOM3lrK36T
For patients & families "early stage" sounds reassuring:
✅ Caught early
✅ Treated
✅ Cured
But in #lungcancer, even stages I and II have a significant risk of recurrence. I know firsthand how devastating it is to be diagnosed with Stage Ia, believe I'm cured, experience recurrence, and learn I have advanced-stage disease.
Of course staging matters. But stage is not a prognosis, and patients aren't statistics. For patients and families, the real question is, "What does that stage mean for me, my family, my life?"
Because understanding your stage is not the same as understanding your cancer.
