The Hebbian 'neurons that fire together, wire together' principle is often assumed to only regulate synaptic plasticity.
But what about other types of brain plasticity, such as myelin plasticity?
As it turns out, the Hebbian principle also applies to myelin!🧵
Hello #MRI physics teams,
we are hiring a MRI physicist postdoc for slightly different projects:
- 3T DWI for the imaging of lumbosacral nerve roots, and
- 7T high-res anatomical MRI of the knee.
with a chance to also contribute to our usual neuro-projects.
Please RT, thanks!
The fly has a full #connectome, basically a directed + weighted graph. But what are its connection ‘signs’, excitatory/inhibitory?
We move towards this answer, predicting transmitters from EM! w/@BobQubit, vid @amyneurons, 1/n

So happy to see my postdoc paper out in the world! 🎉 We have explored some long-running questions in mouse premotor/motor neuroanatomy, and stumbled across some interesting surprises.
Paper alert: @LazariAlberto in Cell Reports https://t.co/XNt826YREY. In which we investigate the mouse (pre)motor system with all the tools we could come up with and compare its organisation to that of the human. @OxfordWIN
@kwanalexc@NeuroecologyLab @OxfordWIN Thank you @kwanalexc - your 2017 review was one of the papers that got me thinking about these topics, so this means a lot!
This is cool! lines up with the homology we tried to try draw between "posterior-medial" M2 and Pre-SMA/SMA in alcohol use disorder here: https://t.co/Crz99wLYWB
Now out in @NatureHumBehav
We show that people can learn to control bionic hands just as effectively and in some ways better, using unnatural control strategies compared to strategies that mimic natural limb control.

🌟Thrilled to announce our latest study published in @NatureComms! Discover how #TMS enhances back-projections from temporal (pSTS) to early visual areas (V1/V2), boosting visual cortex responses to facial stimuli and emotion perception. Find a link here👉https://t.co/RpqQ7BkdDR
@BohacekLab@DaniBeckman In general, I'd say it is difficult to tell what exactly has changed purely based on volumetric effects. But sometimes there are follow-ups looking at what exactly has driven those changes (e.g. Jeffrey Kleim's work looking at synaptogenesis and astrocytes in motor learning).
Paper alert! In a recent publication from our group, we estimate the morphology of axonal fibers using EEG and MRI data from individual subjects https://t.co/GwvKMRVepY
At long last, @AmyFDHoward has shared her labor of love : BigMac! Amy has put a huge amount of work into acquiring & curating this Amy-zing dataset combining MRI with microscopy. Now she is sharing with the world. We hope you enjoy!

Targeting key issues in the new @gordonneuro paper in @Nature on M1 functional organization. Our open review with @diedrichsenlab and @DollyaneMuret offers alternative perspectives and encourages more thoughtful interpretation. Explore our thoughts: https://t.co/N6Vto3qWPt
All NeuroImage and NeuroImage:Reports editors have resigned over the high publication fee, and are starting a new non-profit journal
