@VanessaForATX Appreciate this. We can make the city more affordable and reduce our use of fossil energy. This proposal would go in the wrong direction for both.
I swear voting in California as a native Texan is so weird to me. I get to vote by mail AND I get a booklet with info on what each thing on my ballot means AND a booklet on how to fill out my ballot?!!
I’ve never been more angry at Texas in my life. Wtf.
@mariagallucci@CanaryMediaInc If you want electric appliances and batteries, you'll want heat pump water heater and clothes dryer to stay under max wattage.
Also, when the sun is out and the batteries are full, it's use-it-or-lose-it time. Charge the car and bake the bread before sunset.
@TKavulla@ERCOT_ISO The analogy I always think of is the joke where one guy says, "Why are you hitting yourself in the head?" and the other guy says, "Because it feels so good when I stop."
Jon interviewed Leslie Rutledge, Arkansas Attorney General, about why her state banned gender-affirming care for minors - ignoring the guidelines of major medical organizations and taking the decision out of parents’ hands. Watch the full interview on @AppleTVPlus
@JulianSpector Interesting thought experiment. What would I be willing to agree to if I thought my utility was dealing in good faith? So much bad blood with ERCOT, it's difficult to imagine.
@davekarpf The weird thing about his descent is how he's just 100% hot-swappable with any other right wing nut. He's so uncreative and predictable that it seems ... diagnosable.
@davidhoang But the boomer lol is kind of a condescending FU. As a gen X I avoid them altogether. Never know which way it's going to land coming from me.
@mattlargey@austinenergy Ugh. That will wreck ROI on solar if they don't adjust VoS.
That typical customer with 860kWh is going to see a 40% increase, and if they have solar producing more than they use, it goes from credits to bills.
Here's a handy spreadsheet https://t.co/68yo8DR75F
@theamyheart I think you're underestimating the trama that lead to Texans buying batteries. 800 people died. The grid has not significantly improved. If ERCOT comes to me in an emergency saying, "Hey buddy can you spare a kW I'm running a little short" I'm not going to feel altruistic.
