Welcome to the club! We taught ours critical thinking, looking at everyone’s perspective, we helped her feed her natural curiosity by going down rabbit holes, we travelled and learned history through museum visits, we taught her to have her own opinions and taste. We made sure she learned to write (and won awards!) and she truly developed a passion for learning that will serve her all her life. And she learned to cope with her dyslexia.

Nothing would have been possible on public or private school (we had tried both). She is now off to college because she wants to build spaceships. I am so proud of the young adult she has become.

Went with my kid to see the red moon today. Seeing the world again for the first time through their eyes, be it a full red moon or a woodpecker! That is one of the many joys of being a parent.

Caught me by surprise, I was expecting something for the baby.

True! But even while homeschooling, highschool comes with so many demands, dictated by college applications and college, and exploration suffers. The more flexible time is by far middle school. The education system does not really demand a lot of content: students could donso much more. We used this to our advantage, learning programming, robotics, participating in writing competitions, doing deep dives on topics of interest. What a terrific time to homeschool and take advantage of this flexibility! Or to go to Alpha school and explore away!

The opposite is true as well, homeschool kids that are so far advanced they don’t fit in the classroom. Transitions are difficult. Always. But it is not a homeschool - general school exclusive problem. It is a Montessori to non-Montessori change, a French school vs not, Waldorf vs not. Basically switching between education plans has an adjustment and may require patching holes. Parents who homeschool just for a few years are often aware of the transiton and try to cover the same materials to ease the process. What am I missing?

So cool! Show this to your kids! It is almost like magic that we could see how neurons develop pathways.

What I always told my kid: this is why we learn. Because when something is difficult or scary but we try a few times, even if we fail, our brain builds the bridges needed to be ready next time. So a few failed attempts are what we need to then succeed.

Cool! We are building something that solves that problem. Basically a planner with different access levels, so grandparents could have access to all relevant things for a weekend (with homework, etc). And they can mark things as done so you dont have to ask all the time. An AI native school/ family planner for shared workflows. We are beta testing soon, if anyone dares to try!
