Q6 - Siemens is a firm advocate for using learning analytics to compare learner knowledge with mapped knowledge domains. Data trails and learner profiles are used to evaluate learner knowledge, then personalised content and learning activities are provided. #EDU870newliteracies
Q5 - I recently heard a keynote speaker at a T & L conference say the message from young learners (that we should be paying attention to) is “we want to learn how we live”. So I am def on board with the idea that web-literacy be a key feature of the basics. #EDU870newliteracies
@smurchies I agree, a researcher should definitely weigh up as many as is feasible to demonstrate they have considered alternative perspectives. Then I think their own epistemological/philosophical beliefs will come in to play in making a choice. #EDU870newliteracies
Q4 - I think that given multiple definitions of new literacies, (just like multiple frameworks for ed tech integration), choice can be governed by alignment with your own philosophical leanings and the lens through which the concept is being examined. #EDU870newliteracies
Q3 - not an academic source but Julia Cameron in The Artist’s Way describes a simple tool for overcoming creative blocks. Freehand writing, even if writing nonsense, unclogs mental blocks for example. Apparently something is triggered by the action itself. #EDU870creativity
I generally try to make a distinction between creativity as a personal attribute and creative thinking as a cognitive process/skill. Sometimes see a distinction made in the lit, and sometimes not, confusingly. @mdeschryver#EDU870creativity
Q1 I don’t think we can discuss an intangible concept like creativity without attempting to define and measure it. Otherwise no two researchers could ever be on the same page. Nevertheless, there is MUCH debate about the most appropriate measures to use. #EDU870creativity
Q2 - I think creative teaching is both teacher behaviours and teacher attributes, which I guess covers creative teaching and teaching for creativity. In much of what I've read so far creative learning seems to be equated with the constructivist view of learning. #edu870creativity
