What are respiratory supercomplexes (SCs) doing?
Our collaboration with @Holab_DukeNUS shows that an extra large SC forms between complex I and complex III in a mouse model of complex III deficiency. SC-XL rescues the respiratory defect.

Hello to animation tuesday! 😉 This 👇 animation is the outcome of the work I did for our publication of the human prohibitin complex. Moddeled a mitochondrion and animated one of my beloved flythroughs, et voilà 🥰 #Blender3D#SciComm#SciViz#SciArt#animation
Excited to share our pre-print on the molecular architecture of heterochromatin in human cells🧬🔬

The final version of our work on the in-cell architecture of the mitochondrial respiratory chain is now online in @ScienceMagazine 🎉
You can find the full story here https://t.co/5DaDHXjE6z
@luminous_lab did a wonderful job on the cover and animation👩🎨
In a new Science study, cryo–electron tomography captures the in-cell architecture of the mitochondrial respiratory chain, illuminating how the coordinated action of molecular machines drives life’s fundamental energy conversion.

Another wonderful collaboration with
@alanbrownhms lab. The Zhang lab together with @PolinaLishko lab (co-first author
@QingweiN) contribute the doublet microtubule structure from Crithidia fasciculata, a model organism that infects mosquitoes.

Wonderful turn out at March for Science in Sacramento today! Biomedical research saves lives, promotes innovation, and pays for itself many times over!! It has been a bipartisan issue for decades and made the US truly great! Stand up for science! Support NIH!
Very proud to share our latest work on the ancient the Na+-pumping Rnf complex – now out in Nature Comms. Thank you Schuller & Müller Labs for great collaboration, and @KAWstiftelsen for generous funding https://t.co/0zCeWXUbuT
Beautiful animation of metabolic flux in the mitochondrial Kreb (TCA) cycle
The three "CO2" coming off the cycle is how you lose weight: carbon from your material body coming off as gas you end up breathing out

https://t.co/BBiG2N9Tkr Just published! We uncovered a molecular machine that connects the cell's two major structural networks revealing how cells accomplish precise internal reorganization - a process disrupted in diseases ranging from cancer to multiple sclerosis.
Great review on mitochondrial lipids
@KatsuFunai why is it critical for the outer and inner membranes to have different lipid composition?

Remember learning that #ribosomes are made of 1 large subunit RNA + 1 small subunit RNA?
Well, some cells defy this rule, and the most extreme case is #Toxoplasma which makes its mitoribosome from >50 RNA pieces!
