@Unsophistry @salonium Thanks for your question. It's true even within school there is variation in which neighbourhood people live - so in column 6 of Table 6 we control for which census tract people live in, and the result doesn't change much. So it can't be neighbourhoods driving the result.

@PereGrimmer @RAVerBruggen 3/3 - okay, I have just checked and there's no impact of either opposite or same gender black share in the first wave on whether a white kid leaves the school the following year.

@PereGrimmer @RAVerBruggen 2/n ... when there are lots of black girls but not when there are lots of black boys. It's a great idea to test directly for whether white kids move are more likely to move out of a grade with a higher black share - we haven't checked this but will check now!
