It appears that Trump is wedded to a fantasy and that he demands all US allies pretend to be part of it. It is a very weak American position. Some of the consequences will include:
Our Arab and Gulf allies will absolutely hedge their bets with the understanding that their strategic reality has changed with the knowledge that the regime in Iran will survive and pose a greater threat. They will drift more toward China and Russia—and in some cases they will stampede in those directions. They are used to having their security secured by the US, and that is gone.
Israel on the other hand knows it must be able to defend itself by itself. They learned that painful lesson multiple times since their 1948 modern founding. Jews have learned this essential truth for at least 2 millennia.
For Israel, it means they will have to domestically produce as many weapons systems as they can on their own. Perhaps the Gulf states will pick up the slack in financing these programs like the Arrow, Iron Dome, and Iron Beam. Israel cannot afford to rely on America, whether we are led by Republicans or Democrats. Less dependency allows them to more effectively tell Washington No when it comes to their national security.
All of this is the opposite of what the US should want. To the extend the US wants to pull out of the Middle East, it should want to turn it over to the hands of capable allies. That means the Abraham Accords countries and Israel, who can look after US interests. Instead we appear to be creating a new competition between ourselves, China, and Russia for the future of the region. That is a major mistake, even bigger than Obama’s stupidity of co-signing Russia’s massive entry into Syria to pretend to enforce a chemical weapons red line in 2013.
America spent half a century of the Cold War working to dislodge the Soviets from the Middle East. We seem to now be creating another competition that will drain American resources for another half century.
In the end, the purpose of the US tackling Iran—including the regime—should be to change the status quo in the Middle East in America’s favor, leave our empowered allies in control, and redeploy our resources elsewhere. What we are doing instead is setting up the mother of all Forever Wars by refusing to win this war decisively and in a manner Iran (and our other global adversaries) understands.
Set aside whether a deal with Iran is close (I doubt it).
POTUS just handed the Iranian regime & Hezbollah a gift. They can now constrain Israel by threatening diplomatic progress.
Can Israel strike Hezbollah again after more rocket fire? Can it attack Iran after more missiles?
Exactly the wrong reaction if you want a deal. The regime believes it can attack U.S. forces and U.S. allies without consequence. That weakens deterrence, encourages further aggression, and makes a deal less likely. President Trump should let Israel impose severe costs.
Trump in his first statement after Iranian attacks on Israel: I say to Iran – you’ve fired enough, that’s enough. Now come back to the negotiating table.
It seems like another U.S. President has answered Iranian aggression with "don't."

What a tone deaf comment. Each is a leader representing the interests of their own country. Netanyahu is defending millions of Israelis being consistently attacked by missiles and drones. Pathetic attempt to feed into this “who’s the boss?” Social media BS. It doesn’t work like that in the real world.
🚨 "An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries, as listed..." - President Donald J. Trump
If President Trump agrees to a 60-day ceasefire extension based on vague Iranian promises to “discuss” nuclear issues, it’s game over. That pushes the crisis into late July or early August, when major military operations become far less likely ahead of the midterms.
Once the military leverage disappears, meaningful nuclear concessions disappear with it. Ballistic missile restrictions will be nonexistent. Iran will get billions in sanctions relief—while repeatedly using Hormuz as a tool of blackmail.
Tehran will have won at the negotiating table what it lost on the battlefield.
Jews are entering the most dangerous period since WWII. Prepare accordingly — mentally, politically and physically. Arm yourself. Have a Plan B. Fight for the future of America and Israel — the only places where Jewish freedom has endured, but where neither is guaranteed.
Bill Clinton: “The Palestinians were offered a state. They refused. A state wasn't their goal. Killing Jews was."
This must be shared every single day.
