This mATG8 binding is mutually exclusive with vesicle binding, leaving BLTP3A available to bind another membrane, possibly the ER. We propose BLTP3A as a CASM effector, potentially delivering lipids to help repair or reduce lysosome damage.
Upon lysosome damage and resulting mATG8 recruitment to their surface by CASM (a non-canonical autophagy pathway), BLTP3A first dissociates from lysosomes but then reassociates with them via an interaction of a LIR motif with mATG8. Excellent CASM review: https://t.co/scGJeZ8QUr
