There are few dumber things in sports than offsides in soccer
Get back on D, son
(Seriously, imagine if a receiver couldn't run past a DB in football on a deep ball, or you couldn't get out on a fast break in hoops)
I have four things to say about this situation:
1. It is time, no question. And more importantly it's time for Darnell to get a fresh look somewhere else where he won't have quite so many preconceptions about him.
2. Every single one of you would have signed the contract Darnell did. His contract is not a reflection on him, nobody ever wants less money. It's a reflection of a team that backed themselves into a corner and panicked. That lesson could be important again this week.
3. Darnell Nurse is a leader both on and off the ice. He has been nominated for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy 4 times and a finalist twice. He's been a loyal soldier to this team for 12 seasons, despite some of the most egregious hate I've ever seen a player experience.
4. Be careful what you wish for, this could very well turn into a "one does not simply" situation.
I wish Darnell the best wherever he lands, and I'm grateful for his contributions to the team through significant injuries and unrelenting pressure from an often turbulent fanbase. I have offered my own share of criticism of him over the years, but that was always with the perspective that there were good things he brought every single night.
If you hate KAT, I suggest you reconsider...
"I feel like other than losing a child there's nothing worse you could go through and it builds you up and it strengthens you beyond measure. That's why I got Philippians 4:13 and the date tattooed on my neck. I could do all things through Christ who strengthens me but I was strengthened on April 13 when I lost my mother. That's been my favorite Bible verse my whole entire life since I was little. I didn't know the significance it would have in my life when I became an adult. But what I do know is that I truly can do anything when I walk in faith, when I walk with the angels beside me. I feel anything's possible, I feel nothing's impossible...
I'm just grateful to be in this position because I know a lot of friends in mind that are not here to see this moment. I know a lot of people I love tremendously that aren't here to give me that hug or to give me that text message. I'm doing this for them. I do this for them, I do it for my mother's country, I do it for everybody in Dominican Republic, I do it for everyone in the city that welcomed my mother when she immigrated over. I do it for all my family in New Jersey that allowed me to be raised and allowed me to love this game of basketball and allowed me to be a kid with my mother and enjoy those times. It takes a tribe to get here and it takes a village and I'm so blessed that I've had the village I've had in my life to get to this point"
My thoughts and prayers are with Ian Hutchison, his family, his friends, his teammates and the UMD, UMBC and MSHL communities.
Check on your teammates when you can. Hold them close. And know you matter, and that it’s okay to ask for help. ❤️
Jack Pridham could become one of the biggest examples yet of the changing CHL2NCAA landscape.
If the Blackhawks do not sign him to an ELC, or if he does not commit to college by Monday, the OHL’s second-leading goal scorer will re-enter the NHL Draft.
#CHL2NCAA
NCAA is making a mess of hockey. When the schools, minor leagues, CHL, NHL and most teams are against the new rules maybe it is time to go back and see that hockey is not like the other sports as far as development and qualifications.
I disagree with this. Being an almost 21 year old freshman gave me a much greater maturity level than I had at 18, and I’m talking strictly about academics not even hockey. Taking classes seriously, getting into grad school etc changed my life off the ice forever! @Buccigross
The NCAA is ready to adopt a new rule that effects all sports but none more than hockey. The rule would eliminate redshirts; give athletes five years to play five seasons and start the clock after HS or at age 19-whatever came first; we checked in with some Maine programs.
@603Chief@Buccigross Switching to golf when I’m 28 makes me wealthy? Or did the job I got after attending college and grad school afford me that opportunity… quit projecting your life onto others.
