@jondearing@numble The LAX APM will connect to a new station on the K line, which is the same line that reaches the downtown Inglewood station where this line starts.
@baazquux@numble I rode it from Rancho Cucamonga to Union Station a few weeks ago and my biggest takeaway was the single track sections greatly impact speed as well waiting for oncoming trains. Double track and electrify would help a ton.
@sweatystartup I disagree. It’s true that a certain level of technical mastery will get you through the test no matter what, but some people just truly have a difficult time in the testing environment and they underrepresent themselves, so they have to have to overprepare.
@IISwitchII @KateDiazSEA Really appreciated all your Mariners content this year. The most logical opinions, the funniest memes and gifs, and told off a bunch of dumb mfs throughout the season. The undisputed Mariner’s twitter 👑
@clamorjusticia@sfstandard Unfortunately, this is not true. Swapping out the type of hardware going through the tunnels doesn’t drastically decrease the cost of the tunnels. If you can provide some recent urban rail tunneling projects that came in way cheaper, lmk because I’m curious.
@TheRigLib@sfstandard Tunneling and utility relocations in a heavily urban area combined with high material cost and high demand for infrastructure spreading contractors thin.
@JLovehatesLA@CaHSRA The two stops in between LA and Anaheim certainly contributed to that. So it’s functioning more like a commuter rail in this stretch than HSR. I like the idea of removing both intermediate stations, or leaving SFS for LAX connectivity via Metro C.
@baazquux@numble The Metrolink already exists though, so we would be spending tremendous money just for an improvement in service. It’s barely acceptable to spend this much on HSR to have a 45 minute ride for 30 miles and then a 2:40 ride for 400 miles.
SNA-SFO flights still win that battle.
@numble My favorite option, with limited info, is the UPRR ROW, but with one new Stn in Norwalk. The new Norwalk Station is connected to LAX and the Norwalk/SFS Metrolink stn via Metro Green line extension, with a 3rd Metro track for express point-point service between Metrolink & HSR.
@numble 1. Reduction to 30 minute headways is brutal.
2. Fullerton Stn is pointless as long as Metrolink exists
3. Norwalk Stn is useful IFF Metro Green line tunnels the last 2 miles to connect (1 seat ride from LAX to HSR).
4. 45 min travel time ARTIC-LAUS is brutal.
@thomashawk Does anyone in this thread who is dragging the existing policy decisions of SF support supervised consumption sites (the one thing that has actually led to harm reduction)? It’s not like “jail or rehab” hasn’t been the attempted solution for decades already.
@mackenzi_dugan Josh was lightning in the 8th and 9th inning. Dom had a late inning blast one night as well. We had some Blown Saves, but simultaneously got some late inning offense from these guys. Hard to call it a wash since Sewald’s impact is beyond the Blown Save stat, but it wasn’t awful.
@Ivdown12@MikeDro_ This tweet competes with Simone Biles.
The Giants only had rings; didn’t make the playoffs in ‘11 and ‘13, and never dominated the regular season.
The Dodgers only have 1 ring. A dynasty starts and ends with a ring.
Astros maybe if they won in ‘23 and IFF ‘17 was clean.
