What if the yen carry trade unwind doesn’t just create a liquidity event… but accelerates the transition to new financial rails?
A violent unwind could initially hit EVERYTHING. Assets sold, leverage removed, collateral moved and capital repatriated.
But that’s what makes this interesting:
It wouldn’t just be an asset-price event. It would be a movement-of-money event.
Japan has spent years building DLT infrastructure. SBI/Ripple, XRP-powered remittances, tokenized deposits, cross-border settlement, RLUSD — the plumbing is already being built.
So what happens when trillions in global capital suddenly need to move quickly and the old plumbing gets stressed?
Carry unwind → liquidation → capital reallocates → new rails get stress-tested → certain digital assets potentially separate from the pack.
Maybe the black swan doesn’t create the new financial system.
Maybe it gives the new one its first real stress test. 🤔
@XRPMoonWalkK This might just be a wild ass roller coaster of a week 😂. I will hate to see prices fall but I know it will be short term.
TBH, I love this stuff and love watching the whole thing unfold. Heck I was glued to my phone on the 10/10 crash, just watching the carnage 😝
Everyone’s watching rates and liquidity while energy is quietly walking back into the room carrying a gasoline can.
Hormuz + Saudi production at a 30-year low is not a small macro footnote.
@XRPMoonWalkK Every day there’s somehow worse news surrounding this situation. 🥴 The spillover has already started… the question is how much worse it gets from here.
@TripwireDX Volkswagen’s truck division casually showing up as a Ripple Treasury customer. Ripple just keeps finding its way deeper into traditional finance.
Another one.
Volkswagen’s truck division TRATON — home to Scania, MAN and others — selects Ripple Treasury for forecasting.
Payments. Stablecoins. Custody. Tokenization. Treasury.
Ripple keeps finding new doors into traditional finance.
LATEST: @ClearpoolFin proposes migrating to the XRP Ledger and building institutional credit products using XRPL's upcoming lending standards, with @Ripple pledging investment in $XRP and $RLUSD yield products.
@QueTraders@FirstSquawk The US can probably weather this better than most with domestic oil and gas production. The countries heavily dependent on imports though… that’s where this could get ugly fast. 😂
Japan 🥴
Read that again.
Solana did $100M+ more tokenized equity volume yesterday than Nasdaq and NYSE combined.
Tokenized stocks aren’t some “future of finance” presentation anymore.
The future apparently showed up early. 😂
@Cointelegraph Tokenized equities doing more volume on Solana than Nasdaq and NYSE combined is one of those sentences that would’ve sounded completely insane a few years ago. 😂 The rails are changing fast.
@CoinMarketCap Bitcoin has spent so much time fighting $80K I’m starting to think they have personal beef. 😂 Wednesday should finally give us an answer one way or another.
@zerohedge This AI slowdown/regulation conversation went from background noise to center stage FAST. Something clearly changed in how seriously Washington is treating the risk.
@BRICSinfo BRICS keeps getting harder to treat like a side story. Whether you agree with the direction or not, more countries clearly want a bigger seat at the global financial table.
@RealAllinCrypto That’s the part people keep missing. Ripple hasn’t spent years building one product — they’ve been assembling the whole damn financial stack. 😂
@WhaleInsider Ripple just keeps quietly showing up inside companies most people would never associate with crypto. Treasury forecasting for a group behind Scania and MAN is another pretty damn good logo to add to the list.
@AshCrypto Hot CPI. Hot PPI. Rate hikes back on the table… and crypto is just sitting there refusing to die. 😂 I’ll take boring resilience over another elevator ride down.
@akhsheiy Yeah, that’s kinda my point. Different market structure doesn’t mean no cycles or no nasty flushes. I just don’t think we can assume the old 4-year clock still runs the whole show.
Maybe the four-year cycle isn’t “dead.”
Maybe Bitcoin just outgrew the environment that created it.
ETFs. Corporate treasuries. Sovereign exposure. Institutional liquidity.
Same asset. Very different market structure.
@coinbureau That was a FAST change in tone around AI. Makes you wonder what everyone saw behind closed doors that suddenly pushed this conversation into overdrive.
This is the part markets can’t ignore forever.
A tanker struck inside the Strait of Hormuz. Now it’s burning and the crew is being evacuated.
Diplomacy can cool the headlines. Physical disruption to one of the world’s most important energy corridors is a different animal.
The tanker struck by an unknown projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz yesterday evening is on fire, and local authorities were in the process of evacuating its crew, according to an update from the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) Center issued earlier today.
@sentdefender And this is exactly why Hormuz remains the pressure point. One tanker gets hit and suddenly energy markets have to price another layer of risk back in.
