@LauOAttraction It wasn't a shooting. Several people said roman candles were shot into the crowd, which triggered people to yell "gun" and start a huge scary stampede. We were there, the cops were pretty chill within minutes, and there were no sirens, so no ambulances, backup, etc.
@AmandaMGoetz I’m struggling with this, too. My kid’s friend brought his tablet to a play date at my house and was on it almost the whole time. Stayed up late on it when he slept over, too. He’s not usually the friend we invite over anymore. I know he spends a lot of time on it at home.
@clhubes@LitterboxComics So weird how they survive on crumbs for years then one day at the very start of Covid panic and shortages wake up with the appetite of a linebacker
@eigenrobot You just get used to being sick all the time. You also learn to be very wary of their hygiene and your own. Stock zinc in the house. Get rabid about healthy eating and sleep. Do everything you can to mitigate being exposed to every hot new virus. Appreciate summers.
@TheyTrulyHateU @SummerRay There is treatment and you don’t get rabies just from exposure. They need to bite or scratch you because it’s the saliva that’s infected. So if that happens, you go get the highly effective treatment.
If you put it off, you’re screwed, though. “Wait and see” is a baaaad idea.
These phishers sending emails to workers saying they missed a meeting and should click their link to find out more and reschedule ... should perhaps research their audience more
@realgirl_fieri I could barely get myself to eat fruit (veggie person) but I craved and ate a ton during pregnancy and now I like it more than vegetables.
@ask_aubry Only time this ever happened the way this man described it… I was vibing with him and my *male* friend dragged my reluctant ass away.
The dozens of times I’ve had to rescue my hot younger friend… never once was she mad. She was either itching to escape or too drunk to consent
@Museful_ @KTmBoyle Agree about building character and especially empathy. Not sure about the postmodern malaise. I think maybe the kids don’t crave freedom as much because their parents treat them more respectfully than we were treated. We have out how to still build self-reliance.
@Mauris0202 @Museful_ @KTmBoyle Nothing reminds me to be grateful for my career now, even when it’s hard, than thinking back to my shitty teenage and early 20s jobs.
@KTmBoyle I think the problem is our kids like us too much. Happy to break the cycle of generational trauma but will I feel the same when they never learn to drive?
A joke (but my 8yo just told me he’s never learning to drive, so …).
