@dani_hodgkinson#EDU6323 This was a great video. AR would be beneficial in the science world, ie medicine, surgery, aeronautics. Good for research as well.
@jepkep80 #edu6323 If the mesh becomes a reality and people enter it with an avatar, how does that build trust and transparency? It seems contradictary to the characteristics outlined by Day.
@aplavetsky @dmg_miller@charcua2school#edu6323 Wesch not only incorporates his students, he allows himself to be openly exposed and transparent which makes him relateable. He wants to learn from his students as well through experiences which builds that component of trust
@WendyLadd7#edu6323 Do you think this is due to lack of training, budget constraints or something else entirely? With constant evolution of edtech, I can see how it would be difficult to continually update an entire school system.
#edu6323 Life 101 is an example of building trust through participation in authentic experiences. Transparency and acceptance of students where they are at in life allows for growth and learning without judgment. Sme concept extends to PLNs. Trust and transparency are key.
@JaysonChung1@madrock25#edu6323 Anonomity allows student to freely express their opinions and concerns without feeling less intelligent and without judgment. It can help them gain confidence when they see others are struggling or don't understand concepts through formative assessment such as polling.
@dmg_miller@MichelJenning16@StevenC28591147#edu6323 I like the idea of informing students ahead of time. I don't like putting students on the spot as some students don't process as quickly as other. Forewarning takes the element of surprise out of the equation.
#edu6323 polling can be used to begin each learning period as a review of the prior period's material. This is a way to assess the students' understanding prior to building on that foundation.
@dmg_miller So true. Current and potential employers are eyes that are watching. Being a good digital citizen could be critical to future success. #EDU6323
@taylanicolerose I don't want to know ever random thought that pops into someone's head. It's also scary when young people are over-sharing and posting videos of these "challenges" for the world to see. Is all of this sharing to get "likes" creating an emotional void? #EDU6323
@StevenC28591147@vidyaven19 I'm the same way. I can scan and research online but my eyes get tired trying to read a book on the screen. Getting old I guess. #EDU6323
@aplavetsky The American Academy of pediatrics still recommends no more than 2 hours of screen time per day. I'm not sure how realistic this is with almost everything academic being online. #EDU6323
#EDU6323 looking through a webcam to self-reflect is very different than it was 30 years ago when we wrote in journals or diaries. Now it's very personal in a very public forum.
#EDU6323 Wesch's statement "when media change, human relations change" - so true, every interaction changes, every emotion changes and every relationship changes. It's powerful.
