@nlgrrt #EDU6323 You are completely right that there is digital inequity. Interesting article about how some initiatives are trying to help people around the world. https://t.co/9BtwCCJ0iG
@meresittmann#EDU6323 Agreed! I think as educators we need to teach outside the box and sometimes our comfort zone too, which can include using technology.
@StevenC28591147#EDU6323 It is great when digital tools can help improve communication and collaboration and we usually don't know they are out there. Hope it works for your department.
@dmg_miller#EDU6323 Personally don't think you need the newest and greatest tech to learn digital skills just the willingness to train and teach, like you mentioned. This is not always the priority in schools but should be.
#EDU6323 The Horizon Report mentioned that it is difficult to advance technology adoption to help students succeed because edtech is evolving so quickly. I experienced this first hand in the public schools. Everyone is so far behind and may never catch up.
@aplavetsky #EDU6323 Corporations getting involved in helping with funding for less funded schools can help narrow the field. There are always grants and freebies but someone needs to do the work to get them.
@LisaOtten2#EDU6323 The idea was a little scary for me at first but I agree that trust and transparency can really help students learn and grow as individuals and the connection they make with the professor is even more valuable.
@LisaOtten2#EDU6323 It is definitely because of cost and teacher buy in. Edtech professionals struggle to try new things with limited or no cost and encourage teachers but they don't always see the value.
#EDU6323 PLNโs provide an active involvement but to be effective learning need to include what Pallof and Pratt suggest โ honesty, respect, openness, relevance โ similar words to Dayโs article.
@margaritagri#EDU6323 Thanks for sharing ways to integrate polling. Good point that it can be engaging no matter what you are doing - instructing or training or presenting and any audience.
@meresittmann#EDU6323 Active learning increases student performance which would also affect motivation. Great article about 5 ways to use poling in the classroom. https://t.co/kMNOP3lrEK
@heather_shalvey@DVictor07688225#EDU6323 Good point. Anything that encourages engagement will help keep them motivated and continuing to participate in the course.
@aplavetsky #EDU6323 As a tech teacher sometimes I demonstrate a tool or show a completed project which gets students excited to use it to create something of their own.
#EDU6323 Digital polling can provide small stakes assessments with immediate feedback that will help motivate either on score they get or confirmation they understand material.
@StevenC28591147#EDU6323 Agree! One of the reasons I don't do facebook is oversharing. I don't really want to know what you bought at the grocery store or tell you what I did.
