Huge thanks to Jernej Ule for his supervision, to Charlotte Capitanchik for all her work on this project, and to our collaborators in Dimitris Lagos’ group and at AstraZeneca where this project began, led by James Lynch.
Very pleased to share this new preprint from the Ule lab, uncovering how alternative polyadenylation is regulated by arginine methylation: PRMT activity promotes global 3’ UTR shortening in proliferating cells https://t.co/Ej6QJRn8iJ
We are hiring an RA! Are you interested in mRNA localisation and local translation, presynaptic function and/or neurodevelopmental disorders? More details in the link, deadline is 14th March. Please retweet!
New BioRxiv paper on using cryptic splicing to unlock precision gene therapy activation for ALS, FTD & other TDP-opathies! Key contributions @MaxZYJChien Josette Wlaschin +many others from @ClaireLePichon@ule_lab@FrattaLab labs and more. A thread 🧵 1/13 https://t.co/CbuBmZvMpL
We identified a mechanism by which the homeostasis of class of proteins with similar low complexity domains (LCDs) is collectively regulated – ‘interstasis’. Interstasis operates at the level of the RNA that encodes those LCDs by exploiting the structure of the genetic code.
I don’t usually post personal news but Clinicians have told us to pull every lever.
Our daughter has with #dipg Brain cancer. There is no cure and typically 9m life expectancy.
