@docb787@TomcatJunkie I get annoyed when anyone suggests that Canada could/should fight the US. Not a dig at our troops, just recognition of reality.
Until you've been in that small basement room, you don't understand the scale of the US military and their planning staff.
@wbridgefa I have a clearance is the lamest fucking brag ever.
They checked you out and found no terrorist connections, no gang affiliations and not social media pics of you fucking a goat. Congrats, you're cleared.
There was a great old Duffleblog post on Capt Americas's promotion and the benchmarks he needed to hit if he ever wanted to become LCol America.
Real advice: be the best damned Maj at whatever you are doing. Ignore the brass and the path. Do good work and pray vainly that the institution recognises excellence. If it fails, know that you gave it your all and the institution failed.
@DutchRojas TESLA is the break in the chain that results in Falling Down.
Go ahead, watch the movie and ask yourself if FSDq would have nipped this in the bud.
(Even if we would have missed a masterful performance by Micheal Douglas)
@FutureJurvetson@Wizards_DnD I grew up playing in my head, with badly hand-drawn maps. Using handbooks and monster manuals copied off government photocopiers.
My dad and his friends had hex grids and figurines. So jealous.
You lived in the promised land and reclaimed its treasures. Good them close.
The fundamental problem here is lack of gratitude. People like this have no appreciation that they are the richest, most free, most privileged humans to ever live.
They can't fundamentally process how humans lived a hundred years ago, let alone 500 yrs.
Much easier to bitch about all the things you don't have than recognize what you do have.
@nic_carter That is brutal to watch. Worse than I expected, and I'm pretty cynical.
I'm at a loss for words, but the fact that the local police station isn't burnt to the ground is a bit shocking.
Not a call to violence, just surprised that human nature has yet to assert itself.
@QuestsAbroad An image that will always be fixed in my mind is my (then) middle-aged hippy mother in a small town tiendita holding up eggs and asking...
Dos huevos?! Quanta questo, dos huevos?
Idiom is important.
