@Toxoplamsa @agraybee Someone pointed out a while ago that there's an interesting alternate history out there where Kerry wins Ohio in 2004, giving him the EC victory but not the popular vote. Though that also probably involves a McCain-Palin 2008 win because that economic crash was coming regardless.

@Bshepp87 @MassachusettsXY @vanillaopinions Except that wasn't how it was designed. The EC was supposed to be more like the College of Cardinals. It was supposed to protect against populist demagogues being able to gain power. Ironically, the system that was meant to stop someone like Trump is what put him in office.

Though that timeline also probably involves a McCain/Palin presidency in '08, so...

It involved him being out of town, a declined ATM card, and a bank with shoddy outsourced customer support that led to him giving up more info than he should.

Most allow only three hours at most. Some (MA) only require it be in the first two hours polls are open.

So no, you really don’t have “all day” to vote
