Great to see this animation, which we made in collaboration with the WHO Health Emergencies Programme. It explains the technical side of contact tracing during an outbreak, and promotes the new WHO Guideline on Contact Tracing, which we also designed. #DesignForGood
During an outbreak, what does “contact tracing mean?
A newly released disease agnostic practical guideline, helps to strengthen public health responses during outbreaks by defining essential terms.
This guideline kicks in after diagnosis, when the risk of transmission begins. It empowers health workers, governments, and public health officials with the tools to carry out more effective contact tracing.
Built on lessons various outbreaks, it provides clear definitions and strategic recommendations to improve response efforts globally.

What is fragility? Fragility of a state, system or community = high risk exposure + low recovery capacity
E.g. a flood-hit community without resources to rebuild homes & restore services

#EndFGM
Female genital mutilation (FGM) is a harmful practice that is widely practiced in around 30 countries in parts of Africa, the Middle East and Asia where it is considered a cultural rite of passage for girls.
Evidence shows FGM can be prevented with concerted efforts and investment, including by promoting health, rights, and gender equality https://t.co/YK1eEAN365
Health workers play a critical role to #EndFGM.
They need to know how to treat health complications of female genital mutilation.
Educating and engaging health workers can also significantly reduce uptake of the practice https://t.co/PTeE8CpJiI
Female genital mutilation (FGM) can be prevented.
Across communities, governments, schools and the health sector, collaboration is needed to #EndFGM incl.:
🗒️ Engaging communities
🩺 Training health workers
⚖️ Enacting anti-FGM legislation
💰 Investing in prevention
