Simply incredible new work from @fiona_backhouse and @lyrebirdlab. Albert's Lyrebirds rhythmically shake the vegetation on their courtship platform, synchronizing the movement with their vocalizations to enhance the performance! 🤯 https://t.co/gniMBkEXv2

This was a seriously cool day with @ljgonsalves85 and you can see what we were doing sloshing around in Sydney Harbour with binoculars tonight at 8.30 on @ABCaustralia tv and iview.

Our new paper is out in @Amornith! We now know that "Preferred nesting habitat of the slow-breeding Superb #Lyrebird is rare and was disproportionately impacted by Australia’s “Black Summer” #megafires (2019–2020).." https://t.co/GyCZaxKZNQ. Congratulations @lyrebirdlab

Excited (and saddened?) to share a new study with @lyrebirdlab linking cultural diversity in the Albert's #lyrebird to #habitatfragmentation. Individuals with less habitat availability mimic fewer species, despite most species occurring in all study sites.

I became Doctor Austin today... 6 years... A thesis, first author pubs, early mornings, late nights, a Fulbright Scholarship, documentaries, podcasts, AND, a knee reconstruction, a house, a dog, a baby. Life doesn't stop for a PhD. What a ride! Thank you @lyrebirdlab! #PhDone
