Ret. Prof. Engineer, concerned about the future of my children/grandchildren and so about the longevity of the planet's current biota - doing something about it
„The study is the first peer-reviewed paper in a scientific journal to argue that no more fossil fuel projects are needed as renewable energy sources take up the demand, and expands on the findings produced in 2021 by the International Energy Agency.“

"Leave fossil fuels in the ground. It's so simple. This is the most important predicament humanity has ever faced and by design as a result of the enormous oppressive power of the fossil fuel industry, we're flunking it." George Monbiot.
No time to waste. #ActOnClimate
Contrary to what @KevinFalcon says, I’m already proud and thankful to live in #BritishColumbia. Things aren’t perfect, which can be said about every province at the moment, however living here beats living in other parts of the world at the moment. Let’s be thankful for a change.
Kudos to @JustinTrudeau for telling oil execs face-to-face that there's "not a chance" he'll back off on oil sector emissions cap. After watching decades of empty promises by oilpatch to cut emissions, good to see federal government will now hold them to their word.
@cityofcolwood I would welcome a bylaw that bans all but the most harmless pesticides. We deal with pests by ensuring there is a wide variety of native plants in our garden to attract those insects that will prey on the pests. We still lose some fruit to pests but that is life.
I’m so excited for this project to go ahead, and proud to be one of the decision maker that made it happen! Kudos to @RobbieCMartin who worked hard to bring the project across the finish line!
Hit 1000kms on my e-bike when I cycled to work Friday. Cycling has opened my eyes to a lot of things. I’ve noticed cool things when I otherwise wouldn’t have and…I’ve seen the gaps and opportunities that need to be addressed. All politicians should get on a bike! @CapitalBikeCa
Absolutely ecstatic that #bcbudget2023 included funding to build 306 long term care beds in @cityofcolwood. These beds mean seniors that live in the Westshore can stay in the Westshore. Huge announcement. @MitziDeanBC @Dave_Eby@VanIslandHealth
@ianincolwood The developers already know all this but their aim is to make money. This does not necessarily or always match the City's aim. That's why the City has the power of planning approval to try to get what the people need out of the development industry. Its not an easy thing.
@ianincolwood@elonmusk Do you feel it is important to align with whoever made the things you buy? If so every household in Canada apparently aligns with Xi Jinping?
@renomate The best way to slow car drivers down is to scare them - my preferred way is with speed cameras, redlight cameras etc. Cars parked both sides works somewhat but then you need to have bike lanes between the cars and the sidewalks (e.g., Latoria Boulevard in Colwood).
@Ianforcolwood @GordieLogan Hi Ian - can you explain how you can be the voice for all voters? The voters have many different opinions on many different topics.
Some #Colwood candidates have made the OCP an election issue. Let’s be clear, OCP’s are important documents, however they don’t come with hand cuffs. They aren’t meant to stifle innovation, creativity or good ideas. A rigid OCP does a disservice to the community! IMHO
5/ My point here is that #Colwood has added significant amounts of park land that is designed to handle the planned development. Developers in Colwood aren’t villains, they have contributed greatly to Colwood’s Park system, even before I was elected (Colwood Creek, Ocean View)
I encourage everyone to check out last night's Colwood all-candidate forum! Thank you once again to the Westshore Chamber of Commerce for facilitating this event and a reminder that the first advanced-polling day is just a week away!

Mayor Martin was pleased to welcome Victoria Shipyard employees to the new Colwood facility today.
The 81,000 sq ft facility built by Omicron in the Allandale District combines 4 Vic Ship warehouses & 3 offices from around the region to the Colwood site

This was made possible because of the relationships Mayor Martin has cultivated over the past few years. When deciding who to cast your mayoral vote for, remember this great news story.
