Congratulations and welcome to the @FLSenate Senator Cruz! (@RepJanetCruz is now @SenJanetCruz) Residents of District 18 are lucky to be served by you and I am thrilled to continue working with you in the Florida Legislature. https://t.co/Abw7P147xx
As the new congresswoman from #FL26, a district that’s home to the Everglades National Park and the Florida Keys, I join my fellow Democrats in calling for the reinstatement of the House Select Committee on Climate Change & for taking immediate steps to work on this urgent issue.
“We are here to make sure every vote counts” [said] Sen. Jose Javier Rodriguez...He called the Thursday recount deadline “arbitrary” and said the process should take as long as necessary to ensure every voice from both parties is heard" w @ShevrinJones

We got her attention, but it isn’t enough. Young people need a #GreenNewDeal to protect our lives and livelihoods. Stand with us, @NancyPelosi, or step aside.
Incredible to have @Ocasio2018 stand in solidarity with hundreds of youth today to collectively voice our generation’s demand that @NancyPelosi and Democratic leadership put forward a plan for a #GreenNewDeal to stop the climate crisis.
We got your back AOC. Stay fighting ✊🏽
Next, we should define the standards of that committee. To be truly effective, it should:
1. Have a mandate to draft a Green New Deal plan by 2020;
2. Not have officials appointed to it that accept fossil fuel industry contributions
@chrislhayes 1. 100% clean and renewable electricity standard
Supported by: a National Electricity Superhighway transmission grid expansion program
2. Zero emissions vehicle standard for light duty vehicles
Supported by: Clean vehicles subsidy paid for by small carbon tax on motor fuels
@chrislhayes 3. Automatically increasing "top runner" energy efficiency standards for building materials, appliances, and lighting
4. Federal govt "buy clean" provision to purchase building materials -- cement, steal, glass -- produced using low-carbon industrial processes.
@chrislhayes 5. 3x expansion in federal energy innovation efforts, expanding R&D, demonstration and commercialization funding targeted towards: firm low-carbon electricity sources; decarbonizing industry; carbon-free synthetic hydrocarbon fuels for air and freight; etc.
