@ChiromoHospGrp The customs and expectations of women's roles, although variable among African societies, lead to severe stress and depression as she tends to takeup multiple roles which are physically & psychologically tedious

@ChiromoHospGrp Some of the causes:stereotypes and are often used to justify violence against women. Cultural norms dictate that men are aggressive & dominant, while women rely on men as providers. This fosters a culture of abuse.

Currently in Kenya, there are gender based recovery centres that have been established.
Most recently in Makueni County there was the launch of a safehouse to cater for victims of GBV which is a huge step

@ChiromoHospGrp In Kenya, legislation preceeds funding and therefore we need a proper mental health legislation in place which is currently being pushed by @SylviaKasanga. It was reintroduced to the Senate on Thursday.
