Strong multilateral institutions depend on accountability, transparency, and results. @LukeJLindberg's vision for @WFP reflects those principles while keeping the organization focused on its core humanitarian mission.
Every U.S. President since 1979 has signed sanctions executive orders against Iran. This is by far the strongest and most consequential economic-pressure order ever directed at Iran; because it targets the entire ecosystem enabling the regime in one order.
Iran’s top partners by total merchandise trade are
1. China — $32.4 billion
2.United Arab Emirates — $28.2-35 billion
3.Turkey — $17.3 billion
4.Iraq — $12.3 billion
5.European Union — $6.7 billion
6.India — approximately $3.6 billion
7.Pakistan — approximately $3.0 billion
8.Russia — approximately $2.5 billion
9.Afghanistan — approximately $2.4 billion
10.Oman — approximately $2.4 billion
This team, including Pennsylvania’s own Jeff Bartos, is proving what’s possible when private-sector expertise and discipline meet public service. It’s the kind of leadership reform efforts the U.N. has needed for a long time.
When America becomes unreliable, our allies and partners don't stand still. They adapt. They hedge. They look elsewhere. And the consequences to the American people are serious. I’ve been warning about this for over a year, and this piece by @FareedZakaria eloquently illustrates why restoring U.S. credibility isn't just about repairing relationships. It's about protecting our security, our prosperity, and our leadership. Worth a read.

"Cuba’s communist regime and drug cartels continue to be in a state of alert after President Donald Trump’s administration made it clear that the fight against communist regimes in the Western Hemisphere continues."

Well said @russvought. The President’s memo👇combined with his EO last year on “Restoring America’s Maritime Dominance” plus passing the SHIPS Act and we CAN rebuild U.S. shipbuilding. We must! 🇺🇸
Yesterday, the President signed a historic Presidential shipbuilding memo. Here are two main reasons: 1) The Ford class is too costly & takes too long to build. Lead ships typically cost the most but the Fords are costlier with each one. $13B for the initial Ford, then $15B for the Kennedy & Enterprise, & $18B expected for the Miller. And if we retire a Nimitz class every four years & replace them every 12 (at minimum based on projections), you have far fewer carriers. Not acceptable. 2) Our Navy shipyards are at capacity with major backlogs. A way to add capacity & competition is to entice foreign investment into new DOMESTIC shipyards by block buying with foreign companies that build the initial ships overseas and then build the rest here over time with permanent US capacity. The alternative? No additional ships from added capacity & ongoing backlog from limited competition. Time to try something different, which is the basis for the "Finland model" that began with the Coast Guard icebreakers & is now being extended to Navy ships. We need more ships!
Fourteen years ago today, Austin Tice was abducted in Syria while doing his job as an American journalist.
Assad is gone. His prisons have been opened. But Austin is still not home.
President Trump has made clear that America does not forget its people.
We must bring Austin home.

Like President Trump today, President Reagan proved that true leaders are defined by their ability to forge peace.
Brink of War captures his decisive role as a peacemaker at the height of the Cold War.
Thanks to @paleycenter for the screening of this important film.
Proven leadership matters. @LukeJLindberg has managed complex global operations, built high-performing teams, and delivered measurable results — experience that will help strengthen @WFP for the future.
Today, after more than four years of detention in Russia, Robert Gilman is on his way home to be reunited with his family. Mr. Gilman joins over 100 Americans whom President Trump has freed during his second term in office.
We thank Russia for working with Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to release Mr. Gilman and allowing him to receive the necessary medical treatment here in the United States.
While we appreciate this positive step, we are still seeking the immediate return of all other unjustly detained Americans, including wrongful detainee Stephen Hubbard. The President will not stop until all unjustly detained Americans are home.
PRESS RELEASE
The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) and the United Nations agencies operating in Gaza convened a joint coordination meeting aimed to aligning the United Nations early recovery strategy with NCAG’s Gaza Recovery Program (GRP), identifying priority interventions, and arranging joint working mechanisms to ensure a comprehensive and effective response to the needs of all residents of the Gaza Strip.
The plenary session was co-chaired by Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov @RamizAlakbarov, Deputy Special Coordinator and Resident Coordinator at the Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process (UNSCO), and Dr. Ali Shaath @AliShaathNCAG, Chief Commissioner of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza. The joint chairmanship marks a significant step in operationalizing direct coordination between the United Nations Organizations and NCAG, strengthening the efforts in implementing and delivering relief, recovery, and reconstruction programs under the NCAG’s mandate.
The United Nations delegation comprised senior representatives from the World Food Program (WFP), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organisation (WHO), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). Also in attendance were representatives from the Office of the High Representative of the Board of Peace (OHR), the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI), and the Commissioners of the NCAG, all of whom took part in the event.
Following the plenary, a series of specialized parallel sessions were convened, addressing shelter, health, small and medium enterprises, solid waste management, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), governance, and cross-sectoral humanitarian coordination with a particular focus on food security and education. That reflects the NCAG’s operational readiness as the authority responsible for designing and implementing recovery and reconstruction programs in partnership with civil society and @UN partner agencies, each contributing within its area of mandate in the service of the people of Gaza.
Participants affirmed the imperative of sustained and structured coordination between the United Nations and NCAG to deliver an effective response to the immediate and long-term needs of the people of Gaza, within the framework of the implementation of the roadmap in accordance with President Trump’s Comprehensive Peace Plan and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.

China just started regular cargo ships across the Arctic - the “Ice Silk Road.” It cuts shipping time in half & reduces reliance on risky chokepoints in Hormuz & Red Sea.
A new trade route the U.S. doesn’t control. We should all pay attention.

The Iranian economy is devastated. Their currency is tanking. They have 80-year-high inflation.
All thanks to Operation Economic Fury. Secretary Bessent is doing the Lord’s work.
🚨🇨🇴 Less than 48 hours in office and Colombia's new President De La Espriella has already sent thousands of troops into streets and jungle targeting FARC-linked criminals.
No honeymoon period. Straight boots on the ground.
The idea is simple: "Submit to justice or face the legitimate force of the Republic."
Colombia has tried negotiations. They failed spectacularly. Looks like this administration is skipping straight to Plan B.

This week, the U.S. Mission brought partners together to strengthen resources and support for the Gang Suppression Force. Real burden-sharing means real results for the Haitian people and the region.
Haiti deserves security over chaos.
The GSF is how we deliver it.
