Dear Minister Anand, your post rightly highlights the importance of protecting national security, confronting the Iranian regime’s hostile activities, and holding those responsible for threatening Canadians accountable.
But an equally important question remains: Are we directing our resources at the right targets?
Why are former conscripts, many of whom fled the very regime Canada is standing against, facing consequences for compulsory conscription? In contrast, Iranian regime operatives continue to threaten and intimidate dissidents on Canadian soil.
Many of these former conscripts and their families have actively opposed the regime from Canada. Some face threats from the very people Canada seeks to hold accountable. Yet these families now fear being sent to the country they fled.
We must pursue genuine threats, protect Canadians from foreign interference, and ensure that innocent families are not treated as perpetrators simply because they were forced to complete conscription many years ago.
Minister, if our goal is to protect Canadians from the Iranian regime, shouldn't we be protecting the people who fled it and are now helping expose its threats?

Imagine being forced into military service just to go to college or get a job, and then getting punished for it years later. Iranian conscripts do not get a choice in serving, so treating them like voluntary members makes no sense. #JusticeForIranianConscripts #ConscriptsAreNotMembers
@SameerZuberi Please remember Iranian forced IRGC conscripts and their families. PFLs have plunged parents and children into severe psychological distress and uncertainty. Canada needs clear public guidelines distinguishing forced conscript from voluntary membersb,
@SameerZuberi I am realy interested to know from iranian if Iranian conscripts ask for help from @SameerZuberi as a supporter of mental health ,if yes, what was his reaction? how sameer as a mental heath promoter reacted?
@SameerZuberi Dear Sameer, Iranian conscripts and their families in Canada are living with fear and uncertainty. Being associated with terrorism over compulsory conscription, despite never supporting terrorism, is deeply unfair. Imagine the emotional toll on innocent families.
@SameerZuberi The ongoing immigration uncertainty faced by Iranian conscripts in Canada is taking a devastating toll on families’ mental health. Constant fear, anxiety, and the threat of family separation are affecting our daily lives. We urge @SameerZuberi to hear our voices and take action.
