@david_jgpeoples@AEWPRTeam Or keep your brains on and stop watching. I see less than an hour of current wrestling in a month. It's fun in that small dosage. Otherwise I watch stuff from the eras that give me more joy
@ZachRRichardson@_TekTweets_@stillreal2us They outright denied that it was scripted, tho. And they fought hard to protect it as best they could. Wrestling was literally a scam for most of its history, and its insider lingo (marks, work, angle) comes from the culture of carnival grifts
@Faith_Not_Fear_@SealeMiche99851@ludvanb1313@Machi1Nne I don't dismiss him, no. But again, if I'm looking for hard evidence, self-produced stuff on YT is not going to have the same authority as rigorously evaluated scholarship. It's wild people graduate high school without a basic grasp of how research works.
Go in peace.
@Faith_Not_Fear_@SealeMiche99851@ludvanb1313@Machi1Nne Not the only source of knowledge. I've learned things from nonacademic sources. But if I'm going to provide evidence for an argument, I'd want the strongest evidence possible. This shouldn't be controversial.
@SealeMiche99851@Faith_Not_Fear_@ludvanb1313@Machi1Nne I've said this before. Lots of scholars w/ legit credentials say things in their off-campus lives that wouldn't pass the standards of scholarship. It's very normal. Doesn't make them evil or anything, doesn't even necessarily make them wrong, it's just not vetted scholarship
@Faith_Not_Fear_@SealeMiche99851@ludvanb1313@Machi1Nne I don't have an issue with it existing, but I don't accept something like History as an academic source, no. That stuff is for entertainment, not research purposes
@girlmaxxed@Gman115_ kind of a conventional code-switching, happens a lot.
I became Muslim in the 1990s, was born Michael, went by Mikail for a bit but it's been Michael for like 28 of 30 years
@Faith_Not_Fear_@SealeMiche99851@ludvanb1313@Machi1Nne We have to be selective with our time and the sources we give our time.
Of course, peer review doesn't mean infallible. Obvs scholars disagree w/ each other.
But if a YouTuber's claims can't meet standards of serious scholarship, then he's an entertainer. YT is entertainment
@girlmaxxed@Gman115_ tbh I don't think he does. At AA he says that suddenly he didn't believe in shit. I've said worse and stayed Muslim.
Then he's saying grace w/ the Christians but he doesn't say anything that would take him out of being Muslim
@SpudJohnson@BrianRSolomon You could also step back from criticizing someone just for having an opinion about the thing they watched. "Life's too short," as they say
@ms_shai@Judnikki I just watched it again. All he says is he had been Christian + Muslim but had a moment where suddenly he didn't believe in shit. I've said worse but stayed Muslim, so idk
@UniversalWW Yeah, Islamic History 101 can absolutely deny that.
Islam stops being Arab-dominated roughly a century after Muhammad w/ downfall of the Umayyads.
And by "that philosophy," we're talking Greek philosophy. Islamic theology comes from Greek philosophy
