Senator Hyde-Smith has been leading the charge to give US Farmers are fighting chance on the world stage. BACA is one of those rare pieces of legislation that simultaneously reduces the net outlay of govt. resources while unleashing the productivity of the targeted industry.
Commissioner, I do not know
the context, but want to echo your comments that MS leads the nation in irrigation efficiency and a lot of dedicated public servants have made that possible.
I was disappointed to hear Gerard on Supertalk say that agricultural use of water is inefficient. Farmers in Mississippi are professionals in terms of water use. In addition, use of water to produce our food can hardly be labeled an inefficiency. No farmers, no food. No water, no food. As a reminder - you cannot eat data.
I’m pushing for additional FY27 funding for two critical projects in Mississippi – the Yazoo Backwater Pumps and Arkabutla Dam repairs. Yesterday, @USACEHQ confirmed both projects can put more dollars to work. Failure is not an option, and I will keep fighting to ensure these projects are done right.

We are devastated by the loss of Dan Fordice, husband, father, and business man who may be best known for creating Warrior Bonfire to help military veterans survive the effects of war and provide them hope for the future.
“Pain shared is pain divided, joy shared is joy multiplied.”
We mourn his loss with Ann Clare, his children, his brother Hunter, and so many family and friends. A painful loss of a good man.
What a great honor for Archie Tucker, a lion in agriculture and a Delta native son who stayed and made a difference. Thanks @msstate for this recognition!

America grows the best cotton in the world, so let’s wear it! I was thrilled to hear @SecRollins say she’s with us on the Buying American Cotton Act. BACA would create tax credits to incentivize American companies to use American-grown cotton, keeping jobs here, strengthening rural communities, and putting American farmers first. Over 80 industry groups, farm bureaus, and major retailers are already on board. Let’s get it done!

I’m always glad to have candid conversations with the Trump administration about the challenges our farmers are facing and hear their commitment to fixing them. Today I raised concerns about delays in conservation programs in Mississippi, and Secretary Rollins confirmed that USDA is working to fill critical staffing gaps and streamline the process so producers can get the support they need.

Rural hospitals in states like Mississippi are being squeezed by a Medicare wage index that undercuts reimbursement, making it harder to keep doctors, specialists, and critical services in our communities. Today, I asked Secretary Kennedy if we can count on the administration to work with us in Congress to fix it.

Had a great meeting with leaders from the National Cotton Council to discuss my legislation, the Buying American Cotton Act. American farmers grow the finest cotton in the world, and it’s time our policies reflect that. My bill would create real incentives for American companies to source domestically, keeping dollars in our economy and supporting the hardworking people who produce cotton in Mississippi and across the Cotton Belt. I look forward to working with my colleagues as we advance this legislation.

Reunion of Mississippi economic development professionals (mostly retired) in Jackson today. Thanks to Gwen Howard and Ross Tucker @medcinfo for hosting. Fun time & lots of stories…some of em true!
Delivering a farm assistance package to build on the Farmer Bridge Assistance Program will help put our agriculture community in a better position to continue producing the safest, most affordable and abundant supply of food in the world.
Farmers in Mississippi and across the country are being squeezed by skyrocketing labor costs and economic headwinds. I cosponsored @SenTedBuddNC's FARM Stability Act to lock in the Trump administration’s H-2A wage reforms that create a more predictable wage formula and a fair, two-tiered scale for workers. Our producers deserve greater certainty to plan, grow, and keep feeding, clothing, and fueling America.

It was an honor to meet with our Commission and the Delta looks forward to working with them on making Interstate 69 a reality in NW MS! Also, great to have Senator Lott share the history of this project and the groundwork he made happen!
Yesterday, MDOT held a meeting with Mississippi Transportation Commissioners and stakeholders on the proposed Interstate 69 project through our state.
The interstate is designed to support international and domestic trade, moving commerce from Mexico to Canada. Since I-69 was designated as a High Priority Corridor in 1991 through the Intermodal Surface Transportation Act (ISTEA), efforts to build out the full project have faced funding limitations.
Providing attendees with the I-69 project history and recent conversations he had with Mississippi Delegates in Washington D.C., Delta Council representative Frank Howell presented at the meeting, which was also attended by Former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott via teleconference.
