Announcing the launch of a new policy brief series from CPS's Applied Policy and Community Research Laboratory: https://t.co/lekoNeLiqk APCRL coordinator @AnnieCafer and longtime CPS partner @wte1024 with @MSPublicHealthI collaborated on this brief about midwives in Mississippi.
It's Cesarean Awareness Month and we are thankful for @AWHONN for lifting up this issue. Mississippi has high primary cesarean rates which is why the Jackson Safer Childbirth Experience made reduction one of our project goals. We plan to see more moms exploring vaginal births.
This month, we are raising awareness and educating people about cesareans. Join #AWHONN in supporting a reduction in the number of cesareans in mothers who do not really need or who will not benefit from this procedure when compared to a vaginal birth. #CesareanAwarenessMonth
Last week was World Doula Week (March 22-28, 2020) and despite all the changes adapting to COVID-19 has brought, we are reminded of the value of doulas and their presence during pregnancy and beyond.
#CommunityDoulas are trained to offer emotional, physical and informational support to a pregnant woman and her family during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. We are honored to celebrate #WorldDoulaWeek in recognition of #AMAR and #CHSofNJ#healthybirths ❤️

In response to the spread of the Conornavirus Disease (COVID-19), the Jackson Safer Childbirth Experience has created a resource page for those expecting, parenting and birth support workers. Visit https://t.co/DTxFzyJNka for tips on reducing transmission and hospital policies.
Evidence shows that continuous support during labor may improve outcomes for women and infants. That's why the Jackson Safer Childbirth Experience is training new doulas for our community. For more info on becoming a doula or finding a doula, please visit https://t.co/RYZi84jMUt
