I’m talking to Mitch McConnell right now. Actually hold on let me give him my phone to say something.
Hey guys it’ s Mitch McConell. Everything’s good 👍
Americans don’t know the insane sums their employers spend on healthcare unless they leave and see COBRA prices.
We should disclose healthcare costs attributed to employees on each paystub.
People could see costs very directly, see how they grow over time, and understand just how much potential wage income gets shipped off to United Healthcare or a local BCBS plan.
It is very difficult to get excited about invisible taxes. There’s no reason invisible taxes need to stay that way.
[NEW] Cutting Legal Aid Across North Carolina
The newly proposed North Carolina state budget, passed by our state legislature last week, eliminates the primary source of free legal aid for North Carolinians facing civil litigation - like escaping domestic abuse, fighting slumlords, or small claims.
In the wake of Helene recovery, thousands of low-income North Carolinians have been faced with thorny legal issues around housing and deeds. @LegalAidNC has been a critical resource for these folks, who often can't afford to hire lawyers on long-term retainers. But the new NC state budget wipes out almost all support for this program entirely.
The worst part? Support for legal aid isn't even paid for by taxpayers. Legal aid for low-income NCians doesn't cost taxpayers a dime. Instead, the IOLTA program is funded by the combined interest on legal accounts held in escrow. It's a fully self-funding system - which NC lawmakers have now destroyed.
10 years since everything changed and the second age of Pokémon began.
As someone who has been around Pokémon since the very beginning, this was an unimaginable cultural triumph and the biggest the franchise has been in the overall global view. It was astonishing to see.
