Musicians are often more effective at telling truth to power than journalists or experts. Like him or hate him, Teddy Afro deserves credit for his willingness and courage in saying through song what he sees as failures in Ethiopian politics. Listen!

The governments of Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Iran have continued to supply weapons, including drones, to the Ethiopian regime for use in its ongoing genocidal war on the Amhara people. Over the past two years, thousands of Amhara civilians, including women and children, have been killed in drone attacks, as reported by reputable organizations such as @amnesty, @hrw, @Oikoumene, and others. The support from these governments for the Abiy regime has resulted in an immense human toll and widespread destruction. The track record of these countries in destabilizing other nations in Africa and beyond is also well documented. The international community must condemn these actions and take appropriate measures to hold them accountable. @SecRubio@antonioguterres@KarimKhanQC@TuckerCarlson@TheFP@BBCAfrica@washingtonpost@FoxNews@JDMahama@washingtonpost@ali_naka@nytimes@CNN@AJEnglish
“No government—regardless of which party is in power—should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue.” - President Alan Garber https://t.co/6cQQpcJVTd
Congratulations to Harvard for refusing to relinquish its constitutional rights to Trump’s authoritarianism.
Other universities should follow their lead.
And instead of doing pro bono work for Trump, cowardly law firms should be defending those who believe in the rule of law.
Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions – rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking concrete steps to make sure all students at Harvard can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope other institutions follow suit.
Massacre of Innocent Civilians in Brakat, Gojam:
In yet another horrifying attack, Ethiopian government forces carried out a brutal massacre against innocent ethnic Amhara civilians in Brakat city, Northern Mecha Woreda, Gojam. The attack, which occurred yesterday, follows growing divisions between local government militias and the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF), both of which were expected to remain loyal to the regime.
Eyewitnesses report that the Ethiopian military launched a door-to-door campaign of terror, indiscriminately killing civilians, including mentally disabled individuals, children as young as ten, and the elderly. The scale of brutality has left the community in shock, with bodies reportedly scattered across the streets of Brakat.
This is not the first instance of such violence. Even Ethiopia’s state-controlled Human Rights Commission has, on previous occasions, acknowledged reports of civilian massacres. The Ethiopian military’s apparent strategy to weaken the Amhara Fano forces—a group fighting against what they describe as a genocidal regime—has involved targeting innocent civilians. Government and military figures have openly stated that they intend to starve out and eliminate local support for the Fano movement by attacking Amhara farmers. This approach, commonly summarized by the phrase “to catch the fish, dry out the sea,” has led to continuous massacres in the Amhara region over the past two years.
The ongoing war in the Amhara region has resulted in significant territorial losses for the Ethiopian regime, with reports indicating that over 85% of the region is now under Fano control. In response, each major military defeat has been followed by retaliatory massacres against civilians, particularly farmers and their families.

The world cannot continue to turn a blind eye to the Ethiopian government’s use of civilians as a weapon of war. The systematic targeting of Amhara civilians demands immediate condemnation from international bodies and human rights organizations. Justice must be served for the innocent lives lost, and the perpetrators of these crimes must be held accountable.
