Cut the handouts and lift the tax free threshold by the amount you have saved. Easiest fix in the world. Productivity will jump as you will incentivise everyone to work at least for the tax free theshold.

The two major parties may be off the rails but you still have not given a plan to actually resolve the long term taxing culture of the federal government
