BREAKING NEWS
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2024 #NobelPrize in Chemistry with one half to David Baker “for computational protein design” and the other half jointly to Demis Hassabis and John M. Jumper “for protein structure prediction.”
I am very honored to get this recognition of “Rising Stars in Plant Sciences” 🌟🌱Thank you so much @MPlantPCom and all Demirer lab members for doing the hard work of research!!

Congratulations, @chiara_berruto!!
The second student of the Demirer lab, @Amelia_Yunqing, has just passed her candidacy exam last week!
Congrats, Yunqing!! So well deserved and I’m very proud to be your advisor 🤩🌿
@Mark_Legendre21 and I are on our way to AIChE @ChEnected! This is Mark’s debut to the AIChE community!! Come see his poster on Monday 3:30pm board #111 discussing our recent work on genetically encoded delivery vehicles for plants.
Looking forward to catching up with all!
Congrats to Gözde Demirer, an Assistant Professor @Caltech, for being named one of the 2023 #AIChE35Under35! Demirer’s lab focuses on the engineering of plants and the rhizosphere. Learn more about her lab and the other recipients of the award: https://t.co/VgaIElM3ge
First time at the #plantbio2023! Excited to meet with new 🌱 folks and catch up with friends and colleagues.
Also presenting some cool preliminary research from my lab at the "Towards a sustainable future" symposium tomorrow. Stop by and/or DM to chat if you are around :)
Jeff was a fantastic and brilliant colleague. I appreciated his optimism and perspective. I always enjoyed and learned a great deal from our many wide-ranging conversations, from smoking meat to real estate to best practices in teaching. He will be greatly missed! @NDCBE
Want to sequence RNA from cells without killing them or deliver RNA programs from cell to cell? Today in Cell, we present RNA exporters, which package and secrete cellular RNA, for non-destructively monitoring cell dynamics by sequencing and delivering RNA https://t.co/JG1mzYvLgb
Honey, we shrunk the #gasvesicles!
Congrats to @bill_ling et al on a new class of Truly Tiny ultrasound agents with dimensions of ~60nm. They're small but mighty - producing ultrasound contrast, seeding therapeutic cavitation, and getting into tumors. https://t.co/kaTV7EtRrA
Can you express multiple genes from a single mRNA at programmable ratios without long intervening sequences or peptide overhangs? 🤔 Yes, with SEMPER! 😉 Congrats @mtduan, @ishaanjdev and coauthors on this new tech for mammalian synbio & gene therapy. https://t.co/iJgHuNmMR2
