@AsherJacob23060@MateyYanakiev That’s a fairly modern view of it. Divorcing a wife in ancient times was just as much an effect upon the woman’s life.
Think of the chances of remarrying or even survival, depending on if she has family remaining and if they have the resources to support her.
@KennethGriswold@reformed_corner They should all confess the Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds. As well as all agree on the same fundamental canon of scripture
@KennethGriswold@reformed_corner To be fair, plenty of Catholics are not clear about what they’re trying to say about various doctrines. Even beliefs regarding the magisterium can vary.
@MateyYanakiev To clarify, looking at two people:
One fully acknowledges the truth of Christ and the gospel, but finds it scornful with nothing of value and abandons it.
The other is convinced of Islam and leaves the faith, fully believing that it is what God wants and it honors Him.
@MateyYanakiev I’ve been pondering this. The biggest question I haven’t explored yet is, does it need to be willful and knowing, or is ignorance sufficient to reach this category as well?
@TacticoolOrtho@blessedmikko@lukarije You literally can’t have a homo romantic relationship with an animal. There’s nothing homo about that matchup. It’s hetero in all the wrong ways.
@_BikiniBottoms@TheJayUNF@LutheranAnswers No. It was translated correctly. χείρ was translated to manus which refers to the same region of the body. It includes the hand and forearm.
Unfortunately we don’t have any common term in English which denotes the same region, so English translations use “hand”.
@EdOEwing1@OpStCyprian Don’t quite agree with the wording, but the sentiment holds.
Nearly every aha moment I’ve ever seen was either connecting dots that a Christian before me had noticed, or else likely a heresy or false doctrine.
@AuronMacintyre We’re built to tolerate multiple missed opportunities before finally obtaining success. Unfortunately, gambling short circuits that by replacing missed opportunities with real losses, which doesn’t seem to register in the brains of many.
@StayRight239@logos_asarkos This specifically has been used regularly by James white, who I am no fan of. But it is a very strong passage, since the psalm it’s quoting invokes Yahweh directly, identifying Christ as that same God.
