The Philippines abruptly became China's 2nd-largest solar panel export market in 2026, eclipsing Pakistan. In March and April alone, 3,000MW of solar panels were exported to the country
The Philippines has Southeast Asia's costliest residential power. So the people staged a revolt, having figured out that solar payback collapsed to 3.1 years for homes and 2.3 for businesses - because:
a) the grids was addicted to volatile, USD-denominated imported fossil fuels (like LNG), leading to an explosion of retail electricity prices up 17% or more for homes; and,
b) solar costs plunged 10% over the past 12 months

BAM! Colombia has announced a historic ban on all new oil and large-scale mining projects in its part of the Amazon Rainforest, protecting an area roughly the size of Sweden.
Experts say the move could help protect one of the planet’s most important ecosystems—often called the “lungs of the Earth.” 🌎🌳
Nature is amazing. Protect it.

China is on track for 100% renewables by 2051 and is expanding its clean energy infrastructure at 10 times the speed of either the US or India
Analysis based on @mzjacobson's "Projections of when each of 150 countries may eliminate air pollution and carbon emissions from all energy" (RSC Sustainability, 2026)
[Chart below: Real Clean Power Additions (Average Output in GW). The chart compares the true grid-adjusted, average annual power output added in 2025 alone, factoring in capacity drop-offs and transmission constraints]
It’s always just one chart away…winter solar output in the US is now the same as summer output was 3 years earlier.
The US has good solar conditions even in winter (and it’s complementary with wind in the winter as well).

Pakistan is now world's #2 solar panel importer.
More than India, more than entire Gulf.
Almost none of it policy-driven. Grid power is costly & unreliable so households go solar.
But does that push grid fees higher for everyone left behind?

NEW @IEA data: clean energy investment is now more than double fossil fuels.
$2,155bn vs $1,008bn in 2025.
The crossover happened around 2016. Since then the gap has only widened. What was a narrow lead a decade ago is now a >2-to-1 split.
Good morning with good news: US plants could supply 100% of US battery module & cell demand in 2026!
They could supply 100% of US solar module demand in 2025 & supply ~90% of solar cell demand by 2030.
Clean manufacturing grew, despite Trump attacks.

African imports of Chinese solar panels exploded to 18.8GW in 2025 (+48%), hit 10GW in March 2026 alone and jumped 83% y-on-y in April
The DRC, one of the lowest historical electrification rates on earth, saw its imports explode by 482%
