@PaulRodrigo2718 @mrtdeehan A5 A page from an exam paper very carefully chosen. I try to get a question where the maths is easy but the question is odd: very wordy, not in a in normal format or problem solving. But, I'm after teaching exam techniques. Was a hugely effective strategy this year.

To complete the level 7 element of my PGCE I need to complete a Viva. My placement was teenage maths resit students, having taught them this year it has made me question the resit policy of Maths/English, especially given the pass rate. I would like others views or suggestions?

A time to set work for students, a time to check emails, a time for coffee break, a time for building resources, a time for excersis, for lunch, for talking to colleges, for talking to friends and stick to your schedule

I'm in a really deprived area so started with knowing and regularly using the following: even numbers, odd numbers, factors, multiples, prime numbers having exactly two factors, fractions cancelling because numerator and denominator are even, or have HCF etc

@DavidDidau @GeogMonkey @MichaelT1979 And there in lies the consern. Schools do have good reasons for making their decision but are not certain that Ofsted will agree or accept these reasons making it a safer option to revert back to a two year KS4.

@GeogMonkey @MichaelT1979 @DavidDidau Richard, I agree with you. So, I don't understand why schools are not trusted to make the decision for themselves according to the needs of the community they are in.

@GeogMonkey @MichaelT1979 @DavidDidau I'm foreign. I studied from Yr9 English, Maths, a language, History, Art and Industrial Arts. Is this considered a narrow curriculum?

@DavidDidau @MichaelT1979 This is interesting. I have no idea as I teach Maths but we are having to teach in a lot more depth following the changes to GCSEs and I have no confidence that these subjects can be taught well in two years. Not offering them definitely narrows the curriculum so is not an option

@DavidDidau @MichaelT1979 No, I'm simply listing subject that are not generally taught at KS3 and asking if all these subjects can be taught to the depth expected in two years?

@DavidDidau @MichaelT1979 David, unless I've misread this, you have not considered those option subjects that are not taught in KS3 Business Studies, Media, Economics, Photography ect.
