Nowhere is the "gatekeeping" more evident than in Pickering, dashing the dreams of many young people from having a single family home with a backyard. City Councilors Brenner, Nagy, and Cook often appear to serve no purpose but as gatekeepers. There are local organizations such as "Stop sprawl Durham" and "Land over Landings" whos sole purpose is gatekeeping, and which have the ears of these politicians. The disservice these elements are doing to the local and larger economy should become known.
